Role Overview
As a Senior Computational Designer, you will play a critical role in implementing advanced computational methodologies across Ramboll’s projects. Working closely with the Computational Design Lead, you will develop automation-driven solutions, optimize workflows, and integrate digital tools to enhance design efficiency and project outcomes. Your expertise in parametric modeling, data-driven design, and AI-driven approaches will help bridge engineering challenges with computational solutions, ensuring smarter, more sustainable project delivery.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Computational Design & Technical Execution:
- Develop and implement computational workflows to improve design, analysis, and optimization processes.
- Work with parametric modeling, generative design, and AI-based solutions to enhance efficiency and innovation.
- Automate repetitive tasks and create custom scripts/tools to improve design processes using Grasshopper, Rhino, Revit/Dynamo, Python, or C#.
- Ensure seamless interoperability between digital tools, leveraging platforms like Speckle, Bentley iTwin, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Contribute to the development of digital twins, machine learning applications, and predictive analytics in the AEC sector.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate data-driven decision-making into engineering and architectural projects.
Project Collaboration & Delivery:
- Support project teams in computational problem-solving, offering expertise on automation and parametric design methodologies.
- Work closely with engineers, architects, and sustainability experts to integrate computational solutions into real-world applications.
- Provide technical guidance on project implementations, ensuring best practices in computational workflows.
- Assist in the testing, validation, and refinement of digital tools for enhanced performance and accuracy.
- Document and standardize computational methodologies to enable scalable, repeatable workflows across projects.
Innovation & Knowledge Sharing:
- Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies in computational design, AI, and automation and apply relevant innovations to project work.
- Support the Computational Design Task Force by developing new concepts and exploring cutting-edge design strategies.
- Participate in internal training programs, mentoring junior designers and engineers on computational methodologies.
- Contribute to thought leadership efforts, including research, presentations, and industry events to showcase Ramboll’s digital expertise.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Computational Design, or a related field.
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in computational design, parametric modeling, or automation-driven solutions.
- Advanced proficiency in Grasshopper, Rhino, Revit/Dynamo, and Python or C# scripting.
- Hands-on experience with algorithmic modeling, generative design, and automation frameworks.
- Strong understanding of data-driven design approaches, interoperability, and digital workflows.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, translating complex problems into computational solutions.
- Experience in developing and standardizing computational tools and scripts for large-scale projects.
Preferred:
- Exposure to machine learning, AI-driven design, and digital twin technologies in AEC applications.
- Familiarity with Speckle, Bentley iTwin, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and other cloud-based collaboration platforms.
- Strong visualization and data analysis skills, with experience in Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools for design insights.
- Previous experience in mentoring or training teams on computational workflows.
