Job Description

We have a Senior Commercial Analyst opportunity available within our Expense Management team which sits within our Finance business unit. Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for partnering with our Information Technology, Continuous Delivery and Single Delivery Agenda teams to provide reporting, communicating expense results and creating actionable insights.

Additionally, this role is heavily involved in the annual expense budget process, working with business stakeholders to build out expense budgets and operationalise this.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract, working flexibly from our Sydney office.

In this role you will: 

  • Take ownership of expense planning, budgeting, forecasting and other processes as appropriate.
  • Assist with the delivery in terms of the Expense Framework which governs planning, forecasting, accounting, reporting, and analysis.
  • Assist with partnering of Executives and Senior Leaders to influence and provide direction for the appropriate expense targets and goals for TAL, as part of the planning and forecasting process.
  • Assist with the production of month-end expense reporting and analytics, including targets, productivity metrics and insights.
  • Provide commercial insight and advisory on activities including business case development.
  • Assist with month-end expense meetings with stakeholders to provide analysis, identify opportunities and strategies to mitigate risks as appropriate.
  • Contribute towards short and long-term enterprise expense planning including stakeholder management during the planning cycle, co-ordination of inputs and analysis.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in an Analyst role, preferably within financial services or technology 
  • Advanced excel skills, strong financial modelling experience highly desirable
  • Budgeting, planning, and forecasting experience
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently, prioritise and get things done
  • Business partnering skills, working across different lines of management and business units
  • Strong communication skills, ability to communicate complex problems in a simple and concise way
