About Maddox + You:

You will be the go-to person for all business intelligence within the Maddox family. You will have intimate knowledge of our business and be able to quantify our performance by collecting data from the various systems that manage all our operations. Your work will enable us to make better decisions, more effectively prioritize our efforts, and do a better job of celebrating our wins. You will have the satisfaction of watching your colleagues be faster and smarter because of the data and training that you provide them.

Reactively, you will be responding to internal user requests for insights and training them on how to use your deliverables. You will modify data pipelines in response to API changes. You will troubleshoot and repair faulty data flows and reports.

Proactively, you will be creating views that make core business objects easy to query and business performance simple to quantify. You will implement systems & processes that provide change management and data pipeline observability. You will provide training to internal business users on the proper usage of data and reporting tools. You will be comfortable troubleshooting data integrations from source systems when required.

About Maddox’s Systems:

Maddox maintains a give-the-best/expect-the-best attitude. Our team is equipped with high-end laptops (mostly Apple, some Windows) with multiple external monitors. We have a stipend-supported BYOD mobile policy and our team uses a variety of both iOS and Android smartphones. We exclusively employ cloud-based solutions, enabling our team to work from anywhere. We prefer to use enterprise-supported open-source projects integrated with single-focus, best-in-class SaaS products, rather than rely on all-inclusive solutions with high vendor lock-in. Solutions we currently employ include: Google (Mail, Drive, Doc, Sheets), Odoo ERP, Slack, RingCentral, Pipedrive, Asana, QuickBooks Time, Ubiquiti.

Our current data stack includes:

  • MySQL on Google Cloud SQL - operational data store
  • Google BigQuery - data lake
  • NodeJS & Typescript - for custom integrations (harvesting data from third-party APIs)
  • Stitch Data, Google Datastream - ETL
  • Google Sheets - Ad-Hoc Reporting (connected to BigQuery)

More about You:

You enjoy and are good at interacting with people and solving technical problems.

You are a fast learner and pick up new technologies and user/business contexts quickly.

You are focused and able to maintain excellent attention to detail.

Your colleagues are located all across the country, so you need to be able to communicate clearly and succinctly via phone, email, and chat.

You are excited about data visualization technologies and understand the importance of clean & usable BI data models & reports.

You have a solid background in data technologies. You are comfortable consuming APIs, modeling data, and creating pipelines.

You enjoy teaching others how to use and understand the value of data.

You prefer a healthy team vs. operating as a lone wolf.

Experience & Education:

We value experience, so if you have 10+ years of related experience, that’s great! We also love to invest in high-potential people, and are willing to invest in a promising early-career candidate with the right aptitude, attitude, and ambition. A technical or engineering degree is helpful, but not required.

Travel: This is an on-site position, and can be performed from any Maddox location. If you do not live within a commutable distance, relocation would be required. Infrequent travel to different Maddox facilities around the United States may be required.

Pay: Starting $120k-$160k including bonus and benefits; commensurate to experience.

Pro Tip: We get a LOT of applicants, so if you want to stand out, write a few sentences telling us what stood out to you, and why you think you’d thrive in this particular opportunity.

What We Do

Maddox serves the commercial, industrial, utility, and renewables segments of the transformer market. We work with small operators, all the way up to the largest projects in the country. Our customers value speed, transparency, and an easy buying experience.

We sell, rent, repair and buy transformers.

With thousands of units in-stock and expedited production slots available, Maddox is dedicated to fast lead times and helping you get your project powered on as fast as possible. Our highly trained sales and customer service teams are dedicated to finding you the right transformer and delivering it to you at the right time.

We believe in not only providing a dependable product with outstanding customer service, but in conducting ourselves with character and integrity in all that we do. We believe that strong relationships and a good reputation are our most important assets.

Our experience has taught us that the best way to serve our customers is to deliberately concentrate our skills and expertise on a single line of products. From the very start, MIT was built with an exclusive focus on transformers and transformer-related equipment. We do one thing, and we do it very well.

We serve customers who value quick lead-times, extensive technical expertise, excellent customer service, and ease of doing business. Our customers are primarily industrial and commercial clients, contractors, and equipment dealers/distributors.
