The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking a Senior Analyst, Finance to provide support to one or more local media stations and/or brands with responsibilities including items such as month end close, planning/forecasting and analysis in a variety of areas.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Support the execution of the company’s financial planning and metric-based reporting, with a heavy focus on budgeting and forecasting.

Take ownership of the station/brand financials during the month end close process including working with Corporate Accounting to identify missing entries and explaining significant variances to plan.

Analyze variances to forecast and budgets and provide the data to local leadership.

Support the Senior Director-Regional Finance and the Directors of Finance in ad hoc analysis and analysis of key operating metrics.

Analyze financial data included in Company's internal and external financial reports.

Maintain effective communication and coordination with department heads and station/brand management.
-
Analyze strategic investments at a site level and support local decision making.

Stay abreast of industry developments in the local market and station/brand performance against competition.

Prepare analysis for monthly reporting as well as perform ad hoc analysis as needed.

Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

BS in Accounting, Finance or related discipline or equivalent experience.

5 - 7 years of experience in financial planning and analysis.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

Strong financial and analytical skills.

Solid understanding of financial concepts.

Media experience is a plus; digital media interest and aptitude essential.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work well with all levels of management and employees.

Ability to maintain confidential information.

Ability to lead projects with multiple team members, reaching out to multiple functions.

Ability to meet required deadlines and handle multiple projects concurrently.

This role requires critical thinking skills, as well as a broad business background with skills and experience in strategic and financial analysis.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with local station staff.

Strong foundation using MS Office tools (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) with specific knowledge of pivot tables, macros and other key tools for organizing data. Must have advanced Excel skills.
