About the role
Firstbase.io is on a mission to build an “All-In-One Company OS” to enable global founders to launch, operate, and grow their businesses using Firstbase’s suite of products.
As a Sales Tax Expert at Firstbase, you will play a key role in delivering a seamless, reliable, and fully managed compliance experience for our clients. Acting as their main point of contact, you’ll guide them through complex state sales tax obligations while our team handles all filings, registrations, and government interactions on their behalf. You’ll collaborate closely with our Sales Tax Specialists, Product, and CX teams to ensure each client is properly onboarded, their tax setup is accurate, and their ongoing needs are met with clarity and speed. You’ll advise on nuanced scenarios like marketplace facilitator rules and changing nexus thresholds, always translating complexity into practical guidance. Your role will also support commercial efforts, helping articulate our value to prospective clients through demos and onboarding conversations.

Who are we looking for
We are looking for risk-takers with diverse experience who can provide fearless feedback.
You will have the following duties

Serve as the main point of contact for clients on all sales tax matters — guiding them through obligations and directly managing registrations, filings, notices, and state communications.

Be the primary liaison to our internal Sales Tax Specialists, who are responsible for onboarding clients and setting up the platform.

Advise clients on nuanced scenarios such as marketplace facilitator rules, taxability differences by state, or nexus changes — ensuring they understand the implications while we handle execution.

Respond to client questions and proactively communicate key updates related to filings, payments, and government notices, keeping them informed without burdening them with the details.
Occasionally support commercial efforts such as product demos or onboarding calls to help prospective or new clients understand our process and value proposition.
You should meet the following requirements

Solid understanding of U.S. sales tax concepts, including nexus, taxability, registration, and filing requirements across states.

Experience handling or supporting sales tax compliance for U.S.-based businesses, either in-house, at a consultancy, or through a SaaS platform.

Strong communication and client-facing skills — able to explain complex tax concepts in simple terms and build trust with a wide range of business profiles.

Commercial mindset — comfortable interacting with startups, founders, and finance teams to support onboarding and ensure client satisfaction.

High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously.

Nice to have: Previous experience in a customer-facing tax advisory, sales tax tech, or fintech/compliance SaaS company.
