Position Summary:
The Sales Engineer provides technical support on all products to customers and representatives, as well as to sales and marketing. They are responsible for replacement parts and services, and for working with sales and marketing to design and modify products. They recommend new products and improvements to existing products and works with the engineering team on the release of new products and modification of existing products. They also work with industrial customers and house accounts on pipeline and opportunities.

- Completion of regularly scheduled calls with industrial customers
- Increased sales revenue for industrial products
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Grows existing sales within the region, including new business opportunities.
- Contacts customers, prospect base and major accounts within assigned geographic area via telephone or vehicle on a continuous basis to promote product information and assure satisfactory customer service.
- Writes and processes sales quotes accurately and maintains quote log on a daily basis.
- Promotes and maintains positive customer relations, providing continuous and timely technical support and feedback on all products. Represents the company in a professional and knowledgeable manner that provides assurance to customers of the company’s capabilities.
- Provides product demonstrations, answers customer technical questions on-site and through telephonic/computer communication to customer as required. Provides troubleshooting whenever necessary.
- Continuously monitors customer support needs and identifies value added services. Ensures that the technical support services provided are in line with the needs and requirements of internal and external customers.
- Provides on-site troubleshooting of field application and/or equipment problems. Identifies product and system evaluation criteria, designs protocols, initiates tests with customers, coordinates testing parameters with engineering and lab services, and reports findings to customers in a confidential, standard format.
- Reports competitive information to VP of Area Sales, Canada and feedback to the Director of Sales for HydroFlo.
- Assists the application and product support team in providing technical support to internal customers, sales, subsidiaries, distributors, and end users.
- Provides technical support, product training and configuration guidance to the technical services team and other departments, technical input for customer questions, and works with sales, marketing and customer care to resolve customer technical issues and develop product literature and instruction sheets.
- Works closely with engineering departments to keep them informed of field and product problems. When applicable, implements engineering changes to products in the field. Initiates product service reports as required.
- Provides project management, engineering services, technical guidance, and identification and expedited resolution of any service-impacting product and system event.
- Assists in customer business development, new product evaluation and testing, current product line extension development, and determination of true product differential advantages.
- Works with production for continuous improvement on Engineered Packaged Systems. Develops and implements manufacturing, assembly and test procedures. Standardizes designs to streamline manufacturing of packages and subassemblies.
- Works with the quality department to examine warranty claims, handle customer returns and exchanges. Fully communicates with customer concerning returned goods. Tracks and reports quality trends and quality improvement efforts.
- Provides field and quotation support to the industrial customer and house account segments.
- Liaises with Hydroflo team on current and future opportunities.
- Manages the Canadian industrial pipeline.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in the HVAC sales industry
- Excellent judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of HVAC/Hydronic systems
- Travel (up to 30%) in designated sales territory to promote business
Preferred:
- Professional Engineer Certification (P.Eng.) or Certified Engineer Technologist (C.E.T.)
- 5+ years of inside sales or customer service support experience
- Bilingual – English and French speaking
- Electrical motor, fluid-flow, and general mechanical knowledge
Work Environment
This position works primarily in an office environment using computers and technology. Verbal and auditory capability are required. Occasional exposure in production plant where large equipment and noise are prevalent. Safety gear is required in these areas.
This position may work from home up to 2X/week if performance is in good standing.
This position has no direct reports.
Full Compensation packages are based on candidate experience and certifications.
Salary range
$83,870—$109,031 CAD
