General Summary:This position is responsible for providing support with the modeling, development communicating and promoting of sales compensation plans and the establishment and maintenance of sales goals and communicating. This role involves significant interaction with sales managers, sales reps and Home Office employees who support the sales organization.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the design, development and implementation of sales compensation plans that align corporate and field sales force objectives within appropriate selling allowables. (10%)
- Develop and communicate effective sales compensation tools for the sales organization such as: compensation plans and income projection models and provide training on the use of these tools. (5%)
- Administer cost effective financing programs that help attract and retain successful sales managers. (20%)
- Administer sales planning and related adjustments for the field force. (40%)
- Provide analytical support for Colonial’s Incentive and Awards programs. (5%)
- Provide liaison support and guidance to other Colonial departments such as product marketing and broker marketing that either impact or are impacted by sales force compensation. (5%)
- Maintain compensation program documents. (5%)
- Maintain documentation and accurate administration of special agreements. (5%)
- Provide support as needed for sales office cost center budgeting. (5%)
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 2 or more years experience involving financial, business and sales analysis.
- Working knowledge of the Colonial sales organization and sales compensation programs, preferred.
- Moderate level of experience with financial analysis and budgeting, preferred.
- Excellent analysis, problem solving and decision making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to negotiate and interact with sales managers, sales reps and home office employees.
- High level of initiative, flexibility and eagerness to learn.
- Familiarity with Colonial’s functions including home office sales support, financial, actuarial, operational, and marketing, preferred.
- Life and health insurance industry experience, preferred.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$45,600.00-$86,200.00
Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
