The Role:
Rakuten Kobo is looking for a Team Lead to join our amazing Rendering team! You will be joining our content rendering team to deliver the best in class reading experience for our users.
We take full responsibility for our work, from requirements gathering and solutioning, to implementation and testing. Kobo is looking for an Team Lead who has a strong JavaScript and react background who shares these passions and is proud of the work they do.
Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager, the Team Lead plays a vital role in all aspects of delivery from design, planning and implementation through to releasing and monitoring.
Responsibilities:
- Write, modify, and debug web applications using JavaScript, React, HTML, and CSS
- Self-document development processes, conduct peer reviews, and give actionable feedback
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements and create comprehensive test plans
- Perform regression testing to validate software stability after changes or updates
- Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues, providing detailed bug reports
- Monitoring the health of the application after release
The Skillset:
Required:
- Proven experience as a JavaScript Engineer
- Experience as a Scrum master or team lead experience
- Knowledge of client-side single-page applications that use a modern framework such as React
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile methodologies
- Experience with Git
- Experienced and knowledgeable in CI/CD and different testing strategies and techniques (Unit, Integration, UI tests)
- Comfortable with and enthusiastic about learning new technologies
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills
Nice to Haves:
- Test Automation using WebDriver
- Working with GitLab, GitHub, AzDo
- Knowledge of web tools (Webpack, vite.js)
- Writing shell scripts
- Working with Gitlab CI/CD
- Working with Copilot
- Knowledge of package managers (npm, pnpm,yarn)

The Role:
Rakuten Kobo Inc. is looking for a Spain or Portugal-based Regional Marketing Manager to join our Sales and Marketing team! The team works in close collaboration with Kobo’s retail partners to deliver a best-in-class consumer experience of the Kobo brand through POS, partner advertising, promotions, and in-region ATL and BTL marketing, among other marketing related responsibilities.
Reporting to the Sr Regional Marketing Manager, the Regional Marketing Manager plays a vital role in leading and executing quarterly partner marketing plans, contributing to account management responsibilities, representing retail partner marketing interests internally, and being the day to day ‘face’ of Rakuten Kobo to the partner. Overall, you will be responsible for: driving Kobo eReader, accessory and gift card sales as well as eBook, audiobook and subscription sales, with a focus on bringing new customers into the Kobo ecosystem.
The Person:
The role requires a team player focused on delivery profitable results with a hands-on approach to delivering with speed, attention to detail and a passion for competing in the exciting but highly competitive world of digital reading. A candidate with a good combination of strategic, leadership and executional skills will thrive. This role will require some traveling within the region.
The ideal candidate must be fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and and English.
The Skillset:
Required:
- Strong fluency in Spanish, Portuguese and English (oral and written)
- Minimum 5 years marketing experience, with proven channel and online marketing experience. Ideally, hands-on experience of (trade) customer engagement
- Strong team player, with proven ability to influence at all levels
- Product marketing experience
- Digital marketing experience
- Strong analytical skills
- Creative thinker
- Effective presentation skills
Nice to Haves:
- Sales and/or Business Development experience
- Industry experience with technology, digital content and/or consumer electronics
