The Opportunity:

This role is so much more than writing code; it's about orchestrating a revolution in how we deliver value. As a Staff Engineer, Service Delivery, you lead the technical architecture of our deployment future. Imagine streamlining the process of bringing new services to life, moving from tedious to effortless like breathing.

You will analyze our whole company’s deployment landscape, identify the friction points hindering our velocity, then design and implement strategic solutions that not only address today’s challenges but pave the way for future growth. You will lead cross-disciplinary initiatives, guiding teams through complex implementations, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.

Your strategic thinking will shape our tech roadmap, while your hands-on leadership will ensure its successful execution, empowering hundreds of engineers and accelerating the future of e-commerce. If you're up for the challenge of finding and guiding the way we would love to speak with you.

This role offers a hybrid work environment with three days a week in our local office.

Your Mission:

  • Develop our team’s tech strategy in alignment with commercetools' overall growth strategy
  • Lead cross-discipline delivery initiatives that affect a wide range of teams
  • Research existing deployment processes within the company to identify good practices and areas for improvement
  • Streamline deploying services owned by many different teams to simplify environment creation and maintenance
  • Introduce new technologies to improve deployment cadence and reliability
  • Measure deployment performance/cost and highlight improvements or needs with regular reports


What you need to succeed:

  • Experience driving technical change across an organization
  • Deep knowledge of industry trends concerning service delivery
  • Track record of developing deeply technical strategies to meet business objectives
  • Leadership skills grown from guiding teams
  • Communication skills to align your peers and management on good solutions
  • Enthusiasm for writing and sharing information: RFCs, meeting summaries, ideas, plans, anything
  • Proficient writing software in at least one strongly typed language


Nice to have:

  • Experience with Argo, Flux, Jenkins, CircleCI, or another CI/CD system
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code: Terraform
  • Experience with Cloud Providers: AWS and GCP
