Based in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, NTCE (Nissan Technical Centre, Europe) is our UK Research and Development hub. We are home to the functions that help us lead the way in vehicle design and development of the vehicles manufactured in our European plants. With more than 900 people based here from over 25 different countries, it’s a hive of ideas, imagination, and vision, based in open-plan spacious offices designed to encourage cross-functional collaboration. The teams at the Cranfield Nissan Technical Centre work to develop engineering and design requirements for new car models across the world. Here you’ll find departments such as Research & Development, Product Economic Control, Purchasing, Legal, HR, Finance and Total Customer Satisfaction, all enjoying modern on-site facilities like our gym, sports, and social club.
Purpose
We are seeking a Finance Controller to be based at Nissan Technical Centre Europe, and to act as Business Partner and cost controller for R&D operations in the UK, providing first point of contact financial support for the local business, cost challenge and governance to enable the business to effectively allocate capital and resource.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
- Month End closing & Reporting – Accountability for the accurate and timely closing of UK month end process, reporting and analysis. With the coordinated support of external resource partners.
Consolidation of NTCE Spain for regional management reporting, with intercompany reconciliation. - Balance Sheet Responsibility - for NTCE UK scope, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, supporting the section manager as necessary to provide commentary and narrative to management.
- Cost Controlling – provide ongoing support as well as challenge to the business on both a cost category and R&D project axis.
- Business Planning - Support in the accurate and timely delivery of Business planning and forecasting rounds, with analysis for stakeholders.
- R&D quotation validation – support validation process for issuing project quotations.
- Supporting Section Manager – as required with support of external resource, support section manager requests and general local business support requirements.
- Stakeholder Management: Liaise, network, and support our key business partners. HR, Resource Management, project management etc.
- Ad hoc Project support
Skills & Experience
The Finance Controller should have the following skills or experience:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA)
- Commitment and flexibility to work overtime to meet deadlines during month end close and forecasting periods
- Highly organised and proactive – focussed on solutions
- Ability to present data in a clear and structured manner
- Confident communicator and excellent interpersonal skills – comfortable in dealing with colleagues across various functions and levels of seniority
- Positive and flexible attitude in time pressured environments
- SAP proficiency would be advantageous
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and multitask between multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
