About the role
- You’ll be working within the Digital SDK teams which spans globally. This group is responsible for building our SDKs for content measurement as part of Nielsen’s Audience Measurement. Your specific team will be responsible to build services and UIs to support our complex entitlement needs for our current and future web application.
- As a Software Engineer you will be responsible for the system to work behind the scenes. Your role will be to integrate the application with all required systems and services and provide clean and easy to use API for the frontend part of the system.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with frontend developers to design and develop functional, robust APIs to support internal and customer needs
- Write both unit and integration tests, and develop automation tools for daily tasks
- Develop high quality, well documented, and efficient code Manage and optimize scalable distributed systems in the cloud
- Optimize internal and external applications for performance and scalability
- Develop automated tests to ensure business needs are met, and write both unit and integration tests
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders, project managers, quality assurance teams, and other developers regarding progress on long-term technology roadmap
- Recommend systems solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development and purchased alternatives
Key Skills
- Domain Expertise
- 10+ years of experience developing test automation, and performing manual QA5+ years of experience developing in JavaScript and Java
- Good understanding of manual QA
- Experience developing test automation
- Familiar with databases
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
- Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of fundamentals of computer science and engineering
- Proficient in developing backend systems and services
- Proficient in deploying and manipulating systems on Windows and Linux
- Experience with database systems, with knowledge of SQL
- Proficient with primary AWS services
- Ability to write effective unit, integration, and API tests
- Plus: knowledge of immutable infrastructure, infrastructure automation and provisioning tools
- Mindset and attributes
- Strong communication skills with ability to communicate complex technical concepts and align organization on decisions
- Sound problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly process complex information and present it clearly and simply
- Utilizes team collaboration to create innovative solutions efficiently
