SMX is seeking a Project Manager (Mid-Level) to work as part of an integrated Project Management Team supporting Government customers with the planning, design, integration, testing, and implementation of Mission Operation Systems (MOS) and Network Services. The PM supports day-to-day operations of assigned projects and is responsible for project cost, schedule, and scope and includes management of deliverables and issue resolution. Projects vary across the defense services C4ISR spectrum.
This position will be hybrid with travel to customer designated sites as required.
This position requires a DoD Secret or Top Secret security clearance which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct project management for individually assigned project(s)
- SMX POC to answer customer RFIs
- Executes and monitors project activities
- Manages changes to scope, cost and schedule of project work
- Prepares and updates project plans, status reports, and lessons learned
- Coordinates cross-functional meetings of personnel related to project
- Allocates appropriate resources to ensure projects are completed within given time and budget
- Create, submit, and track equipment procurement documentation
- Conduct site surveys, verify and inspect equipment, and coordinate CONUS/OCONUS equipment deliveries
- Identify and coordinate with subcontractors necessary for equipment assembly, installation, and checkout
- Establishes communications with customers
- Participates in project performance review meetings and discussions
- Updates and maintains production and quality metrics for assigned projects
- Provides support to the Contract Manager for operational direction and oversight
- Ensures that contract service, quality, and performance requirements are met and compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP) is maintained
- Advises the Contract Manager of any contractual issues that may result in Contracting Office action and of any anticipated or proposed adverse personnel actions
- Works cooperatively with the Contract Manager in developing short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures in accordance with contract parameters
- Works with team to problem-solve and facilitates issue resolution
- Travel: 20-30% per year
Required Skills and Experience
- Security Clearance: Secret
- Bachelor’s degree in technical or business-related discipline or 10 years MOS and Network Services related experience.
- 3+ years of project management experience
- Experience in developing requirements, evaluating proposals, and overseeing subcontractor performance and compliance
- Understanding of project management principles to effectively manage cost, schedule, and scope
- Able to handle shifting priorities and possess excellent time management skills to complete tasks within required timeframes with little to no supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with stakeholders
- Ability to manage project budgets, identify financial issues, and develop Rough Order of Magnitudes (ROMs)
- Knowledge of process improvement techniques and ability to direct improvement initiatives
Desired Skills and Experience
- Security Clearance: TS with SCI eligibility
- 12 years’ experience MOS and Network Services experience
- Defense services program experience in the following fields: C4ISR, operations, and/or engineering
- Position is hybrid with preference for SMX Southern Maryland offices or Eastern time Zone

The proposed salary for this position is:
$132,000—$211,200 USD
