About Ameren Transmission

Ameren Transmission is dedicated to planning, constructing and safely operating over 8,000 transmission miles across a variety of energy markets. About The Position

The Project Manager leads small-large size projects with overall accountability for scope, budget and schedule with moderate levels of complexity and risk.

Key responsibilities include:

With minimal leadership guidance:

  • Obtains complete project scope definition and communicates scope to team members. 

  • Manages the scope, budget, and schedule of small to medium size and/or moderately complex projects; and delivers projects on time and within budget constraints.

  • Leads the project team in the planning and organization of project logistics, problem solving and processes to drive team velocity and ensure full team engagement and successful project delivery.

  • Develops/manages project budget, and reviews and approves invoices, vendor proposals, and scope revisions. Develops project forecasts and revises project budgets and forecasts as necessary.

  • Applies organization and leadership skills to ensure internal and external resources work together to meet project objectives.

  • Manages stakeholder expectations for project delivery, facilitates transparency and adaptation, and communicates how projects drive value for the business.

  • Leads the project team in the development of contracting strategies that maximize value to Ameren's customers.

  • Proactively manages contracts to ensure that vendors/suppliers uphold the terms of the contract.

  • Creates, delivers and implements project change approach, strategy and plan; and change management activities to ensure ongoing stakeholder and user engagement; mentors team and peers in the roles and responsibilities of change management.

  • Demonstrates ability to lead, coach and guide others on project activities.

Qualifications (Project Manager II):

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required. Two or more years of relevant experience in project management including scheduling, budgeting, forecasting or project accounting including cost management systems to support project budget, forecast, and spend required. Two years is the minimum number of years required to be considered for this level role.

Qualifications (Project Manager III):

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required. Five or more years of relevant experience in project management including scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, or project accounting including cost management systems to support project budget, forecast, and spend required. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred. Five years is the minimum number of years to be considered for this level role. Experience managing high voltage transmission or large capital construction projects is preferred.

Qualifications (Project Manager IV):

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required. Seven or more years of relevant experience in project management including scheduling, budgeting, forecasting or project accounting including cost management systems to support project budget, forecast, and spend required. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred. Seven years is the minimum number of years required to be considered for this level role. Experience managing high voltage transmission or large capital construction projects is strongly preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Working-level understanding of Project Management techniques and skills. Solid understanding of: Project Management tools e.g., Primavera, Primavera Analytics, Maximo, PowerPlan, Oracle BI, Unifier, etc.; change management strategies and principles; project planning principles such as timing, cost and the implications of project cost overruns/underruns; resources planning; how vendors are chosen, motivated and managed; cost controls and project analytics; schedule development, management and schedule controls; project risks and risk management strategies; contract types and contracting strategy; details of project lifecycle and internal processes that facilitate the project lifecycle; stakeholder identification and management; project accounting and cost management; scope development, business justification and project benefits. Although an engineering degree is not required, the individual is expected to develop a sufficient technical understanding of the work; essential to managing technical projects and establishing credibility with the overall team that this individual will be leading.

Additional Information

Standard Day Shift in office or field environment. Significant travel, overtime, and/or off-hour work may be required based upon individual project oversight needs. Ameren’s selection process includes a series of interviews and may include candidate testing and/or an individual aptitude or skill-based assessment.  Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.

Compensation Range:

$82,400.00 - $199,500.00

* This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant’s credentials.

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
