The Institutional Custody team provides custody services to large global and domestic institutional clients. UMB entered the Institutional Custody space after noticing a need for our services from existing and potential clients. This allows us to provide full-service offerings to our customers who are often clients of Trust, Fund Services, and other groups as well. Our team is growing and looking for our next teammate!
As our Custody Project Manager, you will provide management for all phases of Strategic Projects as identified by UMB Institutional Custody department. You will be responsible for managing one or more projects within the constraints of scope, quality, time and cost, to deliver specified requirements and meet sponsor, management and stakeholder satisfaction. You will also provide coaching and mentoring to junior level associates on methodology, standards and procedures. You may lead programs and oversee multiple projects and/or project managers.
Working in the Institutional Custody Administration team can be fun, challenging, fast paced, and collaborative. How you will spend your time:
- You will provide guidance and mentoring to staff on specific projects or on general project management to ensure departmental procedures met, and projects are moving forward in an effective manner for internal and strategic projects.
- You will obtain, direct, motivate and manage people; and manage the work and resources involved. May facilitate resource planning for project and support teams in conjunction with leadership.
- You will review contracts and statement of work from vendors and partners. Manage and deliver the required products for each project, phase, or stage of a project based on that project's work plan. Obtains signoff from project sponsor on deliverables and project completion.
- You will establish and update project plans and project schedules with forecasts and actuals and manage deviations from plan.
- You will report to respective stakeholders through various methods including team meetings, status reports; steering committee or oversight meetings; etc. Liaise with project sponsors, customers, vendors or partners. Facilitate communication to all involved as appropriate and manage expectations with all stakeholders.
- You will ensure the visibility of the business case or project scope. Ensure all project requirements and objectives are properly documented and communicated throughout the project team.
- You will assist with developing and documenting process flows. Document new opportunities for process improvement.

- You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- You have at least five (5) years custody administration or operations experience.
- You can demonstrate project planning and execution capabilities with strong strategic and critical thinking abilities.
Bonus points if you:
- You possess a PMP certification through the Project Management Institute
- You have working knowledge of securities and global markets
Work Environment:
Flexible. Hybrid schedule. Must be willing to be in the office when needed for meetings, process reviews, or other requests (generally 8 days/month). Large cubical environment-must be able to work in close proximity to other associates.
Compensation Range:
$69,230.00 - $149,000.00
