Job Description

Senior Project Management Specialist (Kansas City, MO.; SS&C Retirement Solutions, LLC.): The Senior Project Management Specialist is responsible for managing IT project / program for SS&C clients, providing formalized project and program coordination across multiple departments, and assisting to find unique solutions to support business needs, including streamlining processes and Information Technology documentation. They will help lead existing Retirement Solutions implementations and conversions. Specific responsibilities include: Defining project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders; Operating as Information Technology portfolio manager for key SS&C clients driving intakes, projects, outputs, and IT solutions; Developing full-scale project plans in Microsoft project & Smart Sheet and associated communications documents for targeted projects; Reporting key financial metrics and project financials; Participating in a small, experienced, energetic team on a rapid, agile development schedule including scrum, release planning, sprint review / demo & retrospective; Effectively communicating project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion; Estimating the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals; Setting and continually managing project expectations with team members and other stakeholders; Developing consensus on project schedules and inform team members of project progress and potential schedule slippages; Identifying and resolving issues and conflicts within the project team; Identifying and managing project dependencies and critical path using Microsoft Project & Smart Sheet; Planning and scheduling project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools; Tracking project milestones and deliverables; Providing test oversight (performance testing, integration testing, regression testing, functional testing, and user acceptance testing); Managing risks and respond to changes in risk over the course of the projects; Developing and delivering progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentation; Determining the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas and; Working with other Project management team to assess inter-project schedule and/or resource impacts. Telecommuting permitted. Less than 10% domestic and occasional international travel to client locations required.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Project Management or related field plus 3 years of experience in a project management role. Alternatively, will accept Master’s degree in Project Management or related field plus 1 year of experience in a project management role.

Must have: 1 year of experience planning/leading IT projects and demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate and interact with others to accomplish a common goal. Proven ability to manage IT projects through full lifecycle, from requirements gathering, build testing, validation, and deployment to closing. Proven ability to interact professionally & facilitate meetings with multiple teams and clients at a variety of levels. Proven ability to take on a leadership role and direct project meetings with both internal and external clients. Proven ability to adapt agile methodologies (scrum, release planning, sprint review / demo & retrospective) into schedules and release plans. Proven ability to create work breakdown structure (WBS), project scope definition document, IT roadmap, status reports, financial reports, oversight testing & validation, lesson learned artifacts. Candidate is self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, a responsible team-player and exhibits exceptional relationship management skills. Proven ability to use Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, Smart Sheet, SharePoint, MS team, MS Suite & test suite. Strong organizational skills.
