In essence, your role involves:

  • Writing Project Development documents for nature-based carbon projects in the tropics.
  • Real-case assessment of key requirements of eligibility for nature-based carbon projects, such as additionality, permanence risk, leakage, ex-ante estimates.
  • Applied research for market solutions.
  • Support in data gathering, writing and reviewing of Project Design Documents following the main standards of the voluntary carbon market.
  • Researching market and ecological characteristics of tree species for reforestation plantings and community benefits in the tropics.
  • Researching social aspects of the geographical context, benefit-sharing frameworks used in the industry, and potential buyers of the environmental outcomes.
  • Support in processing spatial data for land eligibility following carbon standard requirements.

 

Your Expertise: 

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Motivated to research and develop nature-based projects (forestry and agriculture) to tackle the climate crisis using voluntary carbon market standards.
  • Currently finishing a degree in environment, agricultural, forestry, ecology and other related courses, or recently graduated. Other backgrounds can also be considered.
  • Fluent in English. Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.
  • Experience with geoprocessing and statistical analyses is a plus.
