The RoleWe are looking for a Product Manager to join our dynamic team. As a member of the Product Management team within the Petroleum Supply Chain business unit, you’ll have the opportunity to work on AspenTech’s next-generation Supply Chain applications.
Aspen’s Petroleum Supply Chain (PSC) has the leading Planning, Scheduling and Supply & Distribution solutions in the world. Aspen PSC solutions are a central component of AspenTech’s integrated Production Optimization (PO) solution, the stack includes with Aspen Unified PIMS (Planning), Aspen Unified Scheduling, Aspen Unified Reconciliation and Accounting, GDOT, and Aspen DMC3 (Advanced Process Control). This is the leading Production Optimization solution available in the Petroleum and Chemicals market, providing integrated solutions for continuous and batch process industries, along with the information management infrastructure optimization and control solutions needed the for the optimal and safe operation of process facilities.
The role of Production Optimization (PO) Product Manager will support the product & technology strategy and develop solutions to accelerate customer adoption and business growth. The Product Manager will also contribute to the overall commercial and technical strategy. In this role, you will be working with a global team closely including the Manufacturing and Supply Chain (MSC) product management, marketing, and R&D teams, as well as other AspenTech product teams, such as Performance Engineering and Data Sciences.
The ideal candidate has good business acumen, is at ease in speaking both technical and business languages and is literate in Refinery Planning and Scheduling, Cloud applications Machine Learning.

Your Impact

  • Align the business strategy for your product line with evolving market and customer needs, engaging with users and stakeholders at all levels in customer organizations to research market needs and create the business case for new products and enhancements. 
  • Support new initiatives and directions for your product line. 
  • Develop product demos and workshops to drive customer engagement.
  • Evaluate and drive strategic product management processes: ensure the right blend of trade-offs to maximize the product impact in the marketplace. (competition, release timing and pricing). 
  • Support senior staff with research, development, and presentation of new product concepts. 
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing to develop and implement go-to-market plans for product line. 
  • Market Insights: Understand the market and the competitors who play in this market, develop commercial and product insights from product usage data to produce quantitative analyses covering market size, growth rate, and other key success factors. 
  • Services Delivery and Scaling: Internal Services resources and Services from Independent Service Providers and Partners must be designed so that they can scale with appropriate training etc. This will be a critical part of the Production Optimization business strategy, and the Product Manager will need to play a key role in developing and executing this strategy. 
  • Positioning: With the Marketing team, develop competitive positioning strategies for current and future market offerings. 
  • Value Proposition: Develop and maintain market-oriented value propositions for target customers and target industries. 
  • Sales Engagement: Provide strategic and tactical support for Marketing and Sales teams as a result of detailed commercial/product analyses and business modeling. 
  • Synergies: Through collaboration with other Product Managers, for example, within the overall Production Optimization area or within Performance Engineering, drive synergies between PSC and other applications. This work will also include work with AI-driven Hybrid Models which can be shared between different applications. 

What You'll Need

  • Minimum B.S. degree in chemical engineering; MBA, or other advanced management training, desired but not essential. 
  • Minimum 7 plus years of experience.
  • Strong understanding of customer needs and objectives, preferably from experience in the Petroleum and/or Chemicals industries.
  • Exposure to AspenTech software such as Aspen PIMS, Aspen Petroleum Scheduler, Unified planning & scheduling, etc.
  • Deep understanding of Refinery and Petrochemical Planning and Scheduling business process.
  • Exposures/ Skills which would be considered an added advantage for this role would include; Understanding and application of Agile project management tools and methodologies would be an added advantage for this role, Experience of real time software environments and needs, Exposure to APC / Optimization software to the market.
  • Proven business acumen with the ability to translate business objectives to application/architecture requirements.
  • Exposure to sales, product management, and marketing. 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Effective, clear, and concise presentation skills. 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and maintain excellent colleague and peer relationships. 
  • Focus on execution.
