Job Title: Product Analyst
Overview:
The Product Analyst will be a strategic partner in guiding product priorities and influencing the roadmap through deep customer insights, market analysis, and competitive landscape awareness. This role is integral in connecting data-driven analysis with real-world user feedback and journey mapping to align product development with customer needs and industry trends. As a key advocate for the user, the Product Analyst will work across the organization to translate insights into actionable priorities that shape the product experience, drive engagement, and maximize market impact.
Success in this role requires a blend of data fluency, customer empathy, and a strong strategic mindset. The Product Analyst will engage closely with customers, attend industry events, and collaborate cross-functionally to synthesize insights that inform product enhancements and innovations. Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Insights & Journey Analysis
- Lead and participate in customer interviews, journey mapping sessions, and focus groups to gather firsthand insights into user needs, pain points, and motivations.
- Analyze user journeys and customer behaviors to identify opportunities for streamlining experiences and enhancing satisfaction.
- Synthesize findings into actionable insights that directly influence product priorities and improvements.
- Use Case Development & UX Feedback
- Work with Product and UX teams to develop, document, and validate user stories, use cases, and scenarios that reflect real-world usage and critical workflows.
- Analyze qualitative feedback from usability testing, beta programs, and customer support interactions to refine user experiences.
- Collaborate with UX researchers to translate user feedback into specific feature enhancements or adjustments.
- Competitive & Market Landscape Analysis
- Attend relevant industry events, conferences, and webinars to gain insights into evolving customer needs, competitor strategies, and market trends.
- Conduct in-depth competitive analysis, assessing feature sets, pricing models, user feedback, and market positioning of competing products.
- Present findings to the product team, highlighting key opportunities for differentiation and areas where our product can better meet customer demands.
- Product Performance & Data-Driven Insights
- Regularly analyze product performance metrics, including usage patterns, feature adoption rates, customer retention, and churn data.
- Create and maintain dashboards to visualize product performance and track the effectiveness of changes in product features.
- Use quantitative data to validate hypotheses from customer interviews and journey analysis, ensuring product decisions are well-rounded and data-informed.
- Roadmap Influence & Prioritization
- Partner with Product Managers to refine the product roadmap, ensuring that customer needs, market opportunities, and competitive insights are factored into prioritization.
- Participate in quarterly roadmap planning, presenting insights gathered from customer interactions, journey analysis, and market research to guide strategic decisions.
- Help define key performance indicators (KPIs) for new features and product initiatives, monitoring success post-launch and recommending further adjustments.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Marketing to align messaging with product benefits and customer needs, contributing insights on target audiences and use cases.
- Collaborate with Sales and Customer Success teams to gather insights from the field, ensuring the voice of the customer is represented in product decisions.
- Serve as a liaison between product and support teams to identify and track recurring customer issues, feeding insights back into the product development cycle.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Economics, Psychology, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in product analysis, business analysis, customer research, or a similar analytical role with exposure to customer insights.
- Technical & Analytical Skills
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (SQL, Excel, Power BI, Python) and experience with product analytics platforms (e.g., Mixpanel, Amplitude, Google Analytics).
- Strong skills in data visualization and storytelling, with experience creating clear, actionable insights from complex data.
- Familiarity with journey mapping tools and methods (e.g., Smaply, Miro) and UX research tools (e.g., UsabilityHub, UserTesting).
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills
- Exceptional communication skills, with an ability to effectively present data insights and user stories to stakeholders across the organization.
- Proven experience working cross-functionally and building relationships with teams such as Product, UX, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success.
- Preferred Skills & Certifications
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA, Confluence, or Aha!.
- Pragmatic Institute Certified (PMC) or other product management certifications are a plus.
