Procurement Specialist

We are looking for a new team member to join our procurement team as a Procurement Specialist who will be responsible for sourcing electronic components and contributing to the development of a responsive purchasing strategy.  This strategy includes the identification of potential suppliers, relationship building with existing suppliers, part analysis and research, price negotiation, and logistics. This position will focus on the European market while supporting Smith’s global offices. 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

• Provides a high level of product knowledge, which includes part analysis, alternate manufactures, and cross recommendations. 

• Develop, establish, build and maintain solid vendor relationships. 

• Required sourcing, price negotiation and expediting of purchase orders (POs). 

• Executes and manages POs and dispute resolutions in a timely manner. 

• Develops and demonstrates working knowledge of Smith’s purchasing methodology, commodities, services, industry standards, and terminology. 

• Works collaboratively with Sales to increase revenue and maintain customer satisfaction. 

• Interfaces with Operations and Accounting departments to ensure PO’s are processed seamlessly and meet the needs of the customer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience of 1-3 years in purchasing. 

• Prior electronics distribution experience a plus. 

• General knowledge of supply chain management. 

• Demonstrated knowledge of basic level of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. 

• Must be fluent in English
