JOB SUMMARY
Job Profile Summary
Performs intermediate level engineering and/or project management duties related to one or more functional areas that may include condensate and transmix processing units, as well as storage facility operation.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
•Provide technical support and guidance to process unit operations related to troubleshooting and optimizing distillation towers, fired heaters, heat exchangers, air cooled condensers, control systems, rotating equipment, fixed bed reactors, and other unit operations.
•Perform and review relief valve sizing, specification and installation pursuant to American Petroleum Institute (API) 520 and 521.
•Conduct predictive modeling of equipment fouling rates to predict and economically justify condensate/transmix process unit turnaround and small outage scopes of work.
•Utilize process simulation software package (e.g., Aspen+ or Hysys) to perform product yield and heat and material balance analyses for processing units.
•Scope and develop projects resulting from Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and PSM/RMP audit recommendations.
•Develop and enhance process unit operating and maintenance procedures.
•Perform project management activities including but not limited to:
- Bid proposals and contracts
- AFE preparation and cost management
- Management of Change (MOC)
- Material/equipment specifications and selection
- Make recommendations for improvements related to capacity, operating costs, and system operation
- Construction plans and support
- Creating and updating schedules / timelines
- Preparing project progress and other reports
- Managing change orders
•Identify equipment efficiencies, complete hydraulic calculations, determine valve and pipeline sizing
•Research, analyze, prepare and/or approve information including but not limited to:
- Engineering studies
- Governmental rules, regulations, codes and standards
- Hydrocarbon processing and/or measurement bid proposals
- Cost estimates
- Material specifications/selections
•Analyze and /or provide support for various assets and make recommendations for improvements related to capacity, operating costs, and system operation
•Perform and/or provide support for economic analysis related to potential new projects, including but not limited to operational estimates, determining equipment efficiencies, and needed enhancements and conducting definitive studies for potential acquisitions
•Identify opportunities for improvement and assist with implementation of new processes
Education
•Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or closely related field and the following job related experience preferred
Experience
•Experience and training related to:
- Refined and crude product pipeline and terminal operations
- Multi-component distillation processes (e.g., CDU)
- Company/governmental operating and safety procedures
•Experience in engineering design and knowledge of criteria for distillation units and associated systems
•Experience at this level is typically attained with four or more years of experience in engineering, operations and/or project management
•Experience in use and function of Aspen+ and AspenHysys Process Simulation Software packages
•Experience in use and function of applications such as: Microsoft Excel, Project, Access, Word, etc.
•Experience researching and preparing project materials and design specifications, contracts, agreements, budgets, engineering studies, and other relevant reports, forms, and correspondence
•Experience identifying, researching, understanding, evaluating, and prioritizing operational problems and coordinating appropriate action/response
