About The Role
- The Principal Tooling Designer will provide centralized support for the Mold, Trim & Form and other tooling design needs of Assembly Technology and Package R&D across Back-End sites through design conceptualization, risk assessment, and discussions with suppliers for prototyping and industrialization.
What you will do:
- Generate the design concept for mold and trim & form tool supporting the new package development of R&D and Projects of Assembly Technology using Auto-Cad and 3D software.
- Conduct dimensional analysis, stack tolerancing review, mold flow simulations, and stress analysis to determine the manufacturability and reliability of the design.
- Generate a breakthrough design to lower the Die-free Package Cost (DFPC), improve the quality, solve the performance issues, and/or introduce innovation.
- Lead the technical discussion with potential suppliers to transform the concept into a more detailed and working tooling design. Lead the design review prior to the prototype or industrialization tool build.
- Generate and/or review the Purchase Order Specification for new design mold and trim & form tooling.
- Conduct tooling technology benchmarking and scouting such as new material, coating, design concept, and alternative suppliers.
- Establish tooling design rules, tooling design process flow and maintain a cross-site database for the design concepts.
- Generate detailed drawings and conduct tooling-related training when required.
- Travel to Nexperia sites and suppliers to participate in workshops, benchmarking, trainings, conventions, and project discussions.
What you will need:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Tool & Die, or Equivalent).
- At least 10 years of working experience in Semiconductor Companies focusing on Mold and Trim & form tooling.
- Experienced in mold tool designs of known OEMs such as Towa, ASM, MGP, Besi, and others.
- Experienced in different mold tool designs such as transfer mold, compression mold, vacuum mold, film-assisted mold, and others.
- Experienced in mold flow simulation, tonnage calculations, and other relevant computations for mold tool designs. Knowledgeable in various Epoxy Mold Compound (EMC).
- Experienced in DTFS tooling design of known OEMs (BESI, Hanmi, ASM). Well-versed in design fundamentals.
- Expert in designing software applications such as Autocad, Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor or equivalent.
- Experienced in various types of materials and coating being used for Mold and trim & form tooling.
- Knowledgeable in basic machining, and fabrication process of tooling.
- Expert in Tooling Drawing and Tolerancing and GD&T. Experienced in FMEA, DOE, Problem Solving tools, and QC tools.
- Direct and indirect leadership experience in leading cross-cultural teams.
