The RoleThe Principal Revenue Accountant will be a key member of the Revenue Accounting group with a focus on contract review and revenue recognition for the EMEA region. This role will be based in Aspentech’s office in Cluj, Romania, and will report to the Revenue Accounting Director based in Reading, UK. The Principal Revenue Accountant will prepare revenue waterfalls and contract modification templates to accurately record revenue in accordance with ASC 606.
Your Impact
- Assist with contract analysis review and apply critical thinking to ensure proper revenue recognition per company policy and ASC 606 revenue recognition accounting standards.
- Assist with ASC 606 revenue accounting analyses such as Standalone Selling Price analysis, Contract Combination assessment, Contract Modification assessment, and Material Right assessment.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as Sales, Legal, and Operations to ensure that revenue-related contracts are in line with the company’s policies and accounted for correctly.
- Support the regional sales teams as they contract with customers by providing input on financial issues as contracts are negotiated.
- Review and approve the workflow in Salesforce Dashboard for license and professional service quotes and contracts.
- Prepare and maintain documentation supporting revenue recognition conclusions.
- Prepare revenue tools such as contract modification templates and waterfall schedules per the company’s accounting guidelines.
- Support the monthly accounting close and ensure public company deadlines are met.
- Work with the external auditors to provide the required support for the quarterly reviews and annual audit.
- Support ad hoc projects on the Revenue Accounting team.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Minimum 4 years of accounting or revenue recognition work experience.
- Technical revenue accounting knowledge of US GAAP and specifically ASC 606.
- Highly adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining an emphasis on quality.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate clearly.
- Strong organizational skills. Ability to multi-task and meet established deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Experience in Salesforce.
- Oracle or related ERP experience preferred but not required.
