Demiurge Studios is seeking a highly motivated Senior Combat Designer with shooter experience to join our product incubation team. This is a unique opportunity to maximize your extensive combat design experience and proven leadership skills to conceive and shape the next great Demiurge game. 


As a Senior Combat Designer, you will partner with product leadership to solidify the vision of the game and collaborate with a talented cross-functional team to build it! If you live and breathe core combat loops and are passionate about building compelling second-to-second gameplay experiences, this opportunity is for you! 


Please note: In-person collaboration with other leads working on this project is expected.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the incubation team to solidify the game vision while defining core gameplay and combat systems.
  • Build best-in-class, second-to-second gameplay experiences that focus on 3Cs (Character, Camera, and Controls) design.
  • Collaborate with the incubation team to prototype and iterate on game mechanics and systems that ensure a thrilling player experience.
  • Solve creative & technical challenges that require navigating ambiguity and production constraints.
  • Ownership of gameplay features and design decisions.
  • Technical implementation of features within Unreal utilizing blueprints, Unreal features, and other tools as applicable.

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience designing & developing 3rd or first-person multiplayer action games, with a deep understanding of player motivations, mechanics, and behaviors.
  • Demonstrable experience as a combat designer on at least one shipped multiplayer AAA game. Please submit a portfolio link that showcases your experience!
  • Hands-on experience rapidly prototyping gameplay with a AAA game engine (strong preference for Unreal expertise).
  • Expertise in what makes combat feel amazing including mechanics, player experience, audio, animation, and vfx.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey designs clearly.
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to operate within an agile, fast-paced, and sometimes ambiguous environments.
  • Passion for multiplayer (PvP and PvE) gameplay with the desire and motivation to take an idea from initial concept to launch.
