About you and the role:
As a Software Principal Engineer at SailPoint, you will be a key member of our engineering leadership team, driving the overall design and development of our Identity Security Platform, Atlas. You will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business objectives and technical execution. You will need to possess a deep understanding of our business landscape, including market dynamics, customer needs, and strategic goals. Your primary responsibility will be to translate this business insight into actionable technical requirements and innovative design solutions.
You are immensely passionate about platform architecture, and delivering reliable, scalable microservices and infrastructure for SaaS products. You will interact with technical teams across SailPoint to architect systems that scale to process billions of events and support millions of users. You enjoy technical leadership, technical design and solving complex challenges as much as you enjoy getting your hands into the code.

Responsible for the technical architecture of our SaaS Platform, providing architectural leadership across business application domains, data architecture, data integration, security and cloud technologies.

Set the standard for excellence in engineering by advocating design and coding best practices

Look beyond the immediate backlog to create and share a forward-thinking technical vision for your team

You have a full grasp of our product and are developing a technology strategy

Requirements:

10+ years of experience in a Software Platform Architect role, designing and driving the technical design of large-scale commercial, enterprise-class, multi-tenant distributed SaaS software in domains such as Security, CRM, ERP, etc.

Deep understanding of modern technologies and paradigms and are excited to learn new ones (e.g. Java, Docker, Redis, Postgres, GraphQl, Python, Kafka, Terraform, Timescale, AWS)

Extensive experience in modern SaaS architecture & platforms, REST & other API concepts, design patterns, messaging, security, availability, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.

Experience decomposing monoliths and moving to distributed systems

Product minded: You can turn complex business requirements into working software that our customers love to use.

A positive and collaborative demeanor, combined with the ability to coach, mentor and delegate

Benefits and Compensation listed vary based on the location of your employment and the nature of your employment with SailPoint.
As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the SailPoint Corporate Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission, along with potential eligibility for equity participation. SailPoint maintains broad salary ranges for its roles to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect SailPoint’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity. We estimate the base salary, for US-based employees, will be in this range from (min-mid-max, USD):
$183,750 - $262,500 - $341,250
Base salaries for employees based in other locations are competitive for the employee’s home location.
