About the role

StreetEasy is seeking a strategic marketing leader with a passion for NYC real estate and a natural instinct for captivating audiences. As our Principal, Brand Strategist, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping StreetEasy's brand narrative and driving engagement across our paid, owned and operated channels. This senior-level individual contributor role operates with high autonomy and cross-functional influence without direct reports, focusing on strategic leadership through expertise and collaboration.

Core Responsibilities

  • Spearhead comprehensive brand strategy and marketing initiatives for StreetEasy, effectively reaching both consumer and partner audiences.
  • Develop and refine the StreetEasy brand strategy, creating strategic frameworks (brand positioning, messaging, architecture) to help us evolve the brand, bringing it to life in a compelling and consistent way.
  • Collaborate with Product and Brand Creative teams to implement a strategic brand evolution roadmap.
  • Provide strategic direction to cross-functional teams, ensuring all executions align with established brand guidelines and objectives.
  • Lead the strategy and implementation of StreetEasy's annual brand campaigns across the full marketing mix (OOH, Digital, Social, Influencer) in partnership with creative agency and the Zillow performance media team.
  • Serve as primary liaison with StreetEasy's agency of record, overseeing agency scope, budget and brand campaign development from strategy to production.
  • Commission and request research to uncover actionable insights into emerging cultural trends and new audience segments based on business opportunities.
  • Immerse yourself with key stakeholders to understand their business context and complexity; consult on how the brand is accelerated through their work (product, experience, business model, etc)
  • Create compelling audience personas and narratives that effectively communicate consumer motivations and aspirations to internal stakeholders.
  • Manage marketing budget allocations, optimizing brand investments for maximum effectiveness.
  • Report on the state of the brand and competitive landscape via qualitative and quantitative tracking research.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $127,100.00 - $203,000.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

  • 10+ years of Brand Marketing experience at an established brand and/or agencies
  • Prefer NYC-area
  • Passionate about championing audience-centered brand activation, routinely presenting ideas that combine learned intuition, robust data and new thinking
  • Known for translating complex concepts into simple, digestible ones
  • Demonstrated success leading brands through refreshes and/or adaptation of brand foundations
  • Successfully motivated cross-functional teams throughout the organization to integrate brand strategy into their work initiatives.
  • Proven track record leading strategy for high-impact integrated brand campaigns
  • Highly skilled at synthesizing quantitative and qualitative data into compelling brand insights and actionable strategies
  • Innovative creative thinker
  • Resourceful self-starter with strong collaborative capabilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders
  • Self-directed with demonstrated work ethic
