Hitachi Energy, High Voltage Products, is renowned worldwide as a specialist for power transmission and distribution. Our unit Gas-Insulated Switchgears (GIS), based in Zürich-Oerlikon, is active in the development and production of gas insulated switching systems. We ensure the high reliability of our systems by using state-of-the-art development tools and methods.
As a Project Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) projects, ensuring seamless coordination from initial planning to final delivery. You will oversee technical design, procurement, and stakeholder interactions, ensuring that all aspects of the project align with quality standards, budget constraints, and deadlines. Your expertise in engineering, project management, and cross-functional collaboration will be essential in optimizing processes, driving innovation, and delivering exceptional results to customers.
How you’ll make an impact

Project Planning & Execution: Develop and manage technical project plans, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, industry regulations, and internal processes

Engineering & Technical Documentation: Prepare and review engineering documents, such as technical specifications, drawings, assembly instructions, and material lists

Stakeholder & Customer Coordination: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers, internal engineering teams, suppliers, and subcontractor

Material & Supply Chain Management: Define material requirements, oversee procurement, and ensure correct configurations for fabrication and assembly

Budget & Timeline Control: Track project costs, monitor progress against deadlines, and implement corrective actions as needed

Quality Assurance & Process Improvement: Identify and resolve technical issues, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with quality standards

Site Support & Commissioning: Provide on-site technical assistance during installation, testing, and commissioning phases
Your background

Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field

Industry Experience: 5 to 8 years of experience in project engineering, ideally in gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), power transmission, or related high-voltage equipment

Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (Creo, AutoCAD) for design and engineering documentation

Project Management & Tools: Experience with SAP, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and scheduling tools

Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify and resolve project-related issues efficiently

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to coordinate across multiple teams, including R&D, production, procurement, and quality assurance

International Experience: Comfortable working in a global environment, collaborating with diverse stakeholders, and adapting to different work cultures

Language & Travel: Fluent in English; knowledge of German, Spanish, or French is a plus. Willingness to travel occasionally for project meetings and site visits
