*This position will require in office training at the Fremont office during the first few weeks of employment. Once training is completed, this person will be able to work remotely out of a home office in Michigan.

Premium Auditor – Fremont Insurance

What you will do:

Reports to: Senior Premium Auditor or Commercial Lines Manager or Director 

                
Under general supervision and with independent judgment investigate, examine, and report on the financial and operational characteristics of commercial business operations to determine earned premium on coverage and other auditable exposures. Assist Commercial Premium Audit Management with implementing audit policies and procedures and act as a liaison between contract vendors, independent agencies, and company commercial underwriters. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (details of the basic job functions):

•    Collaborate with 3rd party premium audit vendors and act as a liaison between the agency, underwriter, and audit firm to resolve audit issues efficiently.
•    Work with commercial underwriters to identify differences in insured operations from current General Liability and Workers Compensation class codes. 
•    Provide recommendations to commercial underwriting, including class code and premium exposure base changes. 
•    Build solid relationships with clients, identifying and addressing their needs, and actively participating in discussions and meetings.
•    Perform work under the direction of Commercial Premium Audit Management, including individual or multiple audit assignments and leading audits.
•    Document audit procedures in compliance with the IIA Standards and the department's audit methodology
•    Assess compliance with policies and procedures
•    Establish risk-based audit programs
•    Utilize industry-specific software and tools for auditing and reporting
•    Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, ensuring clarity and accuracy in reporting and recommendations.
•    Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
•    Identify and recommend process improvements within the premium auditing function to enhance efficiency and accuracy
•    Participate in training and mentoring junior auditors or other staff as needed

We’re looking for candidates who:

II. Required Qualifications (these are the minimum requirements to qualify)

Education (include minimum education and any licensing/certifications):
•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field OR equivalent training/experience conducting premium audits or related risk management activities
Experience with/in:
•    Two years premium audit experience including payroll recording/auditing
•    General Liability and Workers Compensation audits
•    Accounting/bookkeeping audits
•    Financial/Quantitative Analysis
•    Effective communication across functions and with external stakeholders

Strong Knowledge of:

•    Mathematical and Accounting Proficiency
•    Word processing and spreadsheet software
•    Scopes and PAAS manuals

Skills and Strong Ability to:
•    Analyze, research and resolve audit issues effectively
•    Communicate and build relationships
•    Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software
•    Work independently with minimal supervision 
•    Identify opportunities to strengthen or improve controls in processes or procedures.
•    Occasional travel required; a valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards required if traveling

Preferred Qualifications
Education

•    Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
•    Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)

Experience:

•    Process Auditing (specific to credit risk management/commercial lending (i.e., corporate, or real estate lending)
•    Controls testing (working knowledge or second line testing)
•    Big four audit experience (i.e., Deloitte, PWC, KPMG, EY)
•    FDIC background
•    Prior Insurance Carrier related experience

Knowledge of:
•    Property and casualty insurance, Workers’ Compensation regulations and classifications

Work Environment

Once training is completed, this position will be able to work remotely from a home office location for day-to-day operation unless occasional travel for meetings, collaborative activities, or team building activities is specified by leadership. This is subject to change based on amendments and/or modifications to the ACG Flex Work policy.
