Position Overview: 

As part of the talented Mercury Marine Category team, you will lead cross-platform collaboration with Category Managers, Sales Team, Marketing, CX, and Senior Leaders to drive developing and executing strategies for the company's entire product portfolio. Focusing on market trends, competitive analysis, and resource allocation to maximize value and achieve business goalThe Mercury portfolio includes a comprehensive and industry leading list of products including: Sterndrive and outboard engines, electric propulsion, controls and rigging components, and propsAttention to detail, passion to be the best, and unparalleled pride in your work are essential.

Essential Functions: 

 

Portfolio Planning & Vision: 

  • Develop and maintain a product portfolio strategy that aligns with the company's overall business objectives, collaborating with the Strategy Team. 

  • Identify new market opportunities and potential product areas for growth. 

  • Define the product portfolio roadmap, including prioritization of projects and resources. 

Market Research & Analysis: 

  • Collaborate with Category Managers to conduct thorough market research to understand customer needs, competitive landscapes, and emerging trends. 

  • Analyze product performance data to identify areas for improvement and optimization. 

  • Evaluate the potential impact of new products and features on the portfolio and the business. 

Portfolio Health Monitoring & Optimization: 

  • Monitor portfolio performance and suggest adjustments as-needed to ensure alignment with strategic goals and maximize earnings. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration: 

  • Work closely with Category Managers, Engineering teams, Marketing, and Sales to ensure alignment and effective execution. 

  • Communicate the product portfolio strategy and roadmap to Senior Leadership 

  • Coordinate and manage Program Year pricing reviews with Sales, Category Managers, and Finance 

Manage small team of contributors: 

  • Responsible for dealer and OEM facing product knowledge portal 

  • Responsible for Product Configurator tool and strategy 

  • Responsible for Parts Catalog, items, and pricing 

 

Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • 10+ years’ experience in portfolio and category management  

  • Demonstrated experience in leading a strategic planning process in a cross-functional, matrix environment 

  • BS/BA in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience 

  • Previous experience with consumer journeys, customer segmentation and persona development 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • MBA from an accredited college or university 

  • Direct portfolio planning experience in the recreational marine industry 

 

Working Conditions: 

  • On Site in Fond du Lac, WI 3+ days per week 

 

The anticipated pay range for this position is $115,700 - $185,900 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job- related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. 

At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
