SageSure, a leader in catastrophe-exposed property insurance, is seeking a Platform Engineering Architect. An ideal candidate will have a passion for some of our key technologies (React, Java, GraphQL) and advocate pragmatic industry practices around availability, scalability, security, and automation. What you’d be doing:
- Make data-based decisions to continuously improve the availability, performance, and maintainability of our services.
- Create and communicate architectural decisions, features and processes through documentation and demos, and presentations to senior leaders.
- Identify and drive resolution for issues in design, security, and system performance.
- Review cross-squad technical roadmaps and provide long-term technical direction to the organization.
- Mentor and coach engineers through pairing, design, and code reviews.
- Research new technologies and introduce them to the organization where appropriate.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Experience designing, developing and maintaining distributed systems.
- Demonstrable track record building new and rearchitecting existing services for performance and scale.
- Experience in technical leadership in cross-functional teams and guiding the technical direction of projects.
- Experience developing visual and written architectural plans to aid the organization’s understanding of current and future-state architectures.
Highly preferred candidates also have:
- Experience with common development frameworks such as Spring Boot, Restlet, REACT, Angular etc.
- Experience with multiple architecture design patterns such as, Backend for Frontend, API Gateway, or Microservices.
- Understanding of modern storage solutions and their distinct uses in a distributed system.
- Experience using cloud platforms and/or containerized application deployments, especially AWS and Kubernetes.
- Experience in Insurtech or Fintech environments.
