General Description:

This position reports to the Plant Protection Manager under the Security Director. Candidate will assist or lead in emergency preparedness, education, evacuations, and emergency response. Candidate will assist with the overall physical security of the sites and provide support during Emergency Operations. Candidates may be asked to train and mentor junior positions. This position offers great opportunity for growth and development.


Essential Duties:

Emergency Operations

Assist in the planning and development of emergency and contingency operations action plans, reporting, and response.

Assist the incident commander during emergencies in support roles such as Safety Officer or Communication Officer. 

Operate fire, life, safety equipment in support of ongoing projects, emergencies, and routine maintenance.

Serve as a liaison between HRL and local emergency services.

Assist in training and development of HRL staff, HRL’s emergency response team, and the Plant Protection Team. 

Assist in operating the Emergency Operations Center. 

Perform other duties as necessary.

Serve as the primary for inspecting fire protection equipment and checking for system/equipment irregularities.



Physical Security

Assist in Badge and ID.

Review and approve general visitor requests.

Process and file security information.

Assist in the development of security briefings to include new hire security briefs, threat and vulnerability assessments, incident briefs.

Assist with the development of a contracted guard force.




Required Skills:

Minimum of 3 years working in a Security or Emergency Operations position.

Prior experience working in support of both emergency operations and security operations is desired but not required. Firefighting/EMT experience desired, but not required.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully interact with internal/external customers across organizational levels. Ability to brief instructional safety training programs and lecture large groups in such programs.

Ability to work independently and follow projects through to completion.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio). 

Working knowledge of the National Incident Management System.

First Aid, CPR/AED certification required. 

Working knowledge of 32CFR Part 117. 

Ability to review and understand architectural designs. Ability to effectively communicate with company staff, vendors, contractors, and government partners. 

Wildland Firefighter training (S130/S190) is desired.

EMT Certification is desired. 

Working knowledge of Trade Compliance Regulations is desired. 

Candidate must be able to work diligently without supervision.

Candidate must be able to work well with a diverse team of professionals. 

Ability to conduct regular physical security checks and assessments.

Ability to conduct investigations with both internal and external partners. 



Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree with 1+ years of experience or 3+ years of related work experience. 


Physical Requirements:

Candidate must be able to operate fire extinguishers, fire hose lines, and fire protection equipment.

Candidate must be able to walk hilly terrain for extended periods of time.

Candidate must be able to lift 50 lbs.


Special Requirements:

U.S. Citizenship required.

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance and up to Top Secret/SCI with polygraph required. 


Compensation:

The pay range for this position is $31.54 - $38.48 per hour + bonus + benefits.
