We are seeking a Payroll Operations Specialist to join our Payroll team in Bellevue, WA! The Payroll Operations Specialist is responsible for all aspects of payroll processing and compliance. This exempt position ensures timely, accurate, and efficient payroll operations while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The role also involves streamlining payroll systems, resolving discrepancies, and collaborating with HR and finance departments to support employee compensation processes.

What You'll Do:

  1. Payroll Processing:
    • Oversee and complete end-to-end payroll processing for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
    • Setup and processing of involuntary deductions eg Garnishment, taxes, Child Support Orders
    • Manage payroll schedules, local taxes, direct deposits and disbursement timelines.
    • Process payroll adjustments and on-demand payments.
  2. Compliance and Auditing:
    • Conduct regular audits to maintain data integrity.
    • Ensure proper setup and maintenance of employee records in payroll systems.
    • Stay updated on payroll legislation, tax changes, and reporting requirements.
    • Accountable for the review of the payroll compare ensuring the effectiveness of key controls.
  3. Employee Support:
    • Address employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and discrepancies.
    • Educate employees on payroll policies, tax forms, and benefits-related concerns.
  4. Collaboration and Reporting:
    • Collaborate with HR, finance, and benefits teams to align payroll operations with organizational goals.
    • Generate and distribute payroll reports for management review.
  5. Process Improvement:
    • Find opportunities to optimize payroll workflows and implement standard processes.
    • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for payroll activities.
    • Training new Team Members in operating procedures and payroll systems.
  6. Projects:
    • Support Payroll and HR project through testing to ensure accuracy.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, HR, or related field; CPP certification preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in payroll operations or a related role.
  • Proficiency with payroll software (e.g. Workday, Pro WFM, ADP Smart Compliance) and MS Office Suite (Excel a must, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Solid knowledge of payroll tax regulations, wage laws, and compliance standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Diligent and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Full-time exempt role, typically requiring 40 hours per week.
  • May require occasional overtime to meet payroll deadlines or during audits.
  • Hybrid or in-office work environment.


The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.

Pay Range

$65,500$98,000 USD
