We are looking for a Payroll Coordinator II (Shift 8 to 5) to join our team in Costa Rica. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and making an impact on our life-saving work, this may be a good fit for you!  As a uniquely qualified candidate, you will:

SUMMARY: Responsible to do monthly and weekly payroll, and all related stuff to the payroll cycle. Give support to the Accounting Manager with the accounting and administrative processes and with the planning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES include the following

  • Validate, control and process weekly and monthly payroll.
  • Review and validate reports for CCSS, INS and Hacienda.
  • Prepare payroll Journal entry of all weekly and monthly payroll processes.
  • Prepare all employees payments through electronic banking or check pay and to enter to EPICOR.
  • Prepare and review severance calculation.
  • Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliation of payroll bank accounts.
  • Control and prepare payment to interns.
  • Company payroll Onboard for new hires and coordinate opening personnel new bank accounts 
  • Prepare payments: Ministerio de Hacienda, Social Security, Banco Popular, judicial embargos, Alimonies through electronic banking.
  • Prepare, control and reconcile of payroll accruals.
  • Provide accounting and/or financial information to external or internal auditors.
  • Provide support, in coordination with Accounting manager, on the accounting cycle activities including all the accounts of the trial balance.
  • Support in the implementation of policies, procedures or others to assure the company follows the, the International Accounting Standards (IAS) and the International Financial Standards (IFRS), USGAAPs and/or any norms followed as a decision of the Corporate.
  • Support in the budgeting process and evaluation the budget execution.
  • Temporarily support other activities of the Accounting Department when necessary.
  • Support in the development and implementation of accounting and administrative policies.
  • Prepare the BCCR (Central Bank of Costa Rica) quarterly report.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor´s Degree in Administration, Finance, Accounting or other related area or equivalent experience.
  • 2-3 years of experience working in financial/accounting areas and one year of experience in weekly/monthly payroll area.
  • Basic Knowledge of the complete accounting cycle.
  • Extensive knowledge of labor working days and general to the current labor law.
  • Desirable knowledge in "exactus" software

General supervision: routine duties are performed with minimal supervision; standard practices or procedures allow proceeding alone at routine work; occasional check of work while in progress; work is reviewed upon completion.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Computer literacy is required, experience with ERP systems, spread sheets, word processor, other utilities, basic knowledge of commercial software package (i.e. Windows or similar) and basic computer configuration.

Ability to work with interdisciplinary co-workers at any level, highly developed soft skills. Good communication skills both oral and written. Results oriented.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages, calculate projections and trends. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS: Monday – Friday.

TRAVEL: N/A

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.

Other physical working conditions:  Moderate noise

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY LEVEL: Sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature.
