Job Description Summary:
Fenwick is seeking a Patent Docket Specialist who will be responsible for performing patent calendaring/docket functions and assisting with the maintenance of the docket database for the patent group. The Docket Specialist will use an automated docketing system to prepare and distribute docket reports. They will also process and review incoming patent mail.
This position can be based in any of our U.S. office locations and offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing you to work both from home and at your designated Fenwick office. The frequency of in-office work will be determined by business needs and guided by your department's directives.
Job Description:
- Review of patent documents and correspondence for relevant deadlines;
- Calendaring of deadlines using docketing software;
- Responding to inquiries from attorneys and staff regarding docket entries;
- Preparation and distribution of docket reports;
- Act as foreign filing monitor for patent group;
- Processing of incoming Patent Department mail;
- Assist with inbound/intake of new clients/matters;
- Assist with the maintenance, development and implementation of docket procedures for the Patent Department.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of U.S., PCT and foreign patent docketing procedures.
- Knowledge of automated docketing applications preferred.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to perform duties with minimal direction.
Reporting to the Senior Patent Operations Manager, the ideal candidate must be highly accurate and detail oriented and able to manage multiple priorities. Must possess strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office and knowledge of docketing software preferred. Previous patent docketing experience required.

The anticipated range for this position is:
$76,000 - $107,500
Depending on the role, the actual base salary offered may depend upon a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
A discretionary bonus for eligible employees may also be available based on performance. Additional information about employee eligibility for benefits and discretionary bonus will be made available upon request.
