We are looking for a Patent Administrator to be part of our Group Patent Department in R&D.
With our Double Impact strategy, our ambition is to double Hempel’s revenue by 2025 through both organic growth and mergers or acquisitions. R&D will be a major driver of our organic growth towards 2025 and to support the ambition, we aspire to deliver excellence in our R&D processes.
Hempel’s Group Patent Department is responsible for securing patent protection of our valuable ideas originating from R&D and from other parts of the organisation, and for globally defending our patent rights. You will be joining a dedicated team of three experienced patent specialists and be working in close collaboration with colleagues in our R&D organisation.
The Patent Administrator role is a new role in our department meaning that you will be deeply involved in implementation of new procedures and guidelines and you will get the opportunity to influence the way patent administrative tasks are handled in the department going forward.
You will be working in our office in Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark.
Key responsibilities
- Docketing e-mails and responsible for updating due dates in our case handling system.
- Responsible for annuity docketing and payments.
- Handle formalities associated with patent filings, 30 months continuations, EP validations, assignments, IDS, notice of oppositions and annuities etc., in collaboration with Danish and foreign patent consultancy firms when relevant.
- Correspond directly the DKPTO, EPO and WIPO when relevant.
- Take part in developing, maintaining and optimizing department procedures, templates and guidelines.
- Archive e-mails and relevant case related documents etc.
- Assist with invoicing and budget estimates.
- On ad-hoc basis assist with proof-reading patent claims and editing tables in patent application drafts.
- Take responsibility for all patent administrative matters in the department.
Qualifications
You must have a relevant educational background and experience from a similar role. We prefer candidates with the following qualifications:
- At least 3-5 years experience as a patent administrator, preferably from an inhouse position.
- Experience in filing patent applications directly (DK, EP and PCT applications) and in handling formalities and non-technical patent aspects.
- Experience in working with foreign patent agencies on patent administrative aspects e.g. related to foreign filings and patent prosecution.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
