Job Description Summary
This role will support the Sandoz Legal Brand Protection Team (LBT) with global responsibility for a broad range of trade mark (TM) operational tasks (with guidance from Senior IP Paralegal and relevant attorneys), helping the business achieve its growth objectives and drive patient access to cost-effective generic (Gx) and biosimilar pharmaceutical medicines.

Your Key Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Clearance – use internet-based trademark search databases (e.g. Corsearch) for domestic and international clearance searches; analyze and draft initial search report for relevant attorney(s).

Protection – initiate foreign trademark filings and correspond with foreign trademark agents regarding trademark applications.

Prosecution – handling day to day prosecution of domestic and foreign trademark applications.

Maintenance – collaborate with in-house trademark attorneys, other LBP paralegals and external counsel to manage Sandoz’s international trademark portfolio (including assisting with trademark renewals).

Projects/M&A – assist attorneys on trademark/domain name related aspects of projects, acquisitions & divestitures, BD&L deals.

Data Integrity – responsible for completeness and correctness of trademark data for relevant region(s).

Administrative – handle administrative tasks (e.g. including supporting on finance matters, dealing with POA notarization, arranging meetings) for LBP department.

External Vendor Management – assist relevant attorney(s) with managing external vendor relationships in allocated territories/regions (including monitoring costs and assisting attorneys with any fee increase requests).
What you’ll bring to the role:
Essential Requirements:

3+ years of trademark experience in law firm or in-house corporate IP Department
-
Experience in a pharmaceutical company is preferred.

Expertise in managing a global trademark portfolio is preferred.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Ability to follow complex instructions with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to research, analyze and communicate large amounts of complex data.

Able to effectively manage and prioritize a high-volume workload to achieve tasks in a timely manner demonstrating a solution-oriented approach in a fast-moving environment.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and preferably at least one additional (European) language.
