Job Description
As a Paralegal Consultant at Nearmap your role will be focused on supporting a broad range of legal, transactional, compliance and administrative matters including negotiating and drafting software and data licensing arrangements and supporting our US business. Where required, this role will support other regions where our group operates and corporate head office on legal and regulatory compliance. The role will require the person to work closely with business leaders to help them achieve their targets.
- Support the North American sales organization, in particular the government teams.
- Attend to legal-related external customer support requests and inquiries;
- Provide training to the US sales team in understanding the legal position and risk exposure in commercial contracts
- Manage Incoming and Outgoing Contracts;
- Manage Legal Vendors
Key Responsibilities
- Help to collaborate on global legal projects lead by the respective APAC and US Counsels
- Manage, maintain and update contract management system, and global operational contracts register, for APAC and US
- Responsible for document retention practices;
- Manage, maintain and update library of templates, forms and clauses;
- Assisting with internal counsel and business clients to improve business practices and procedures;
- Vast knowledge of the Legal team and Operations;
- Maintain and Draft Legal Policies;
- Manage portion of Outside Budget;
- Provide Analysis on Data and Stats;
- Manage Technology Used for Legal Team;
- Create and implement process improvements;
- Manage administrative portions of Legal team; and
- Other tasks as required by the global legal department.
- Comply with responsibilities of working for a private equity
- Comply with all local legislative requirements
- Adhere to company guidelines and the corporate Code of Conduct
- Where appropriate, keep up to date with legislative requirements
- Act in an ethical way when dealing with company assets and other people
Qualifications
- Paralegal studies, Paralegal certificate or diploma in law (or equivalent) or 4 more years of experience in legal support area, ideally at a major law firm or in-house;
- Experience in drafting legal documents and correspondences.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced work environment and proven ability to address complex problems and business needs while reasonably balancing risk and not compromising on quality or work
- Broad commercial and corporate law knowledge with a strong background of intellectual property law in a technology context, licensing, SaaS, revenue recognition and privacy;
- Experience negotiating or exposure to government (federal and local) contracts preferable;
- Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce (preferable);
- Ability to communicate and negotiate with external and internal parties.
- Ability to provide commercially focused advice that is translated into simple to understand language;
- Have a strong history of successful cross-functional collaboration
