Business Development Representative

The Business Development Representative team is SPINS’ engine that drives pipeline and growth. We’re the first point of contact for potential customers, sparking conversations, identifying pain points, and setting the stage for strong, lasting partnerships.

Where You’ll Make an Impact
As an Outbound Business Development Representative (BDR), you will help fuel the growth of SPINS’ data and insights platform by identifying and qualifying new sales opportunities. This role is critical in building pipeline for our sales teams by generating leads and setting meetings with decision-makers at CPG manufacturers, emerging brands, and other entities within the ecosystem.
You’ll work across SPINS’ SMB, Mid-Market, Enterprise, and Channel Partner revenue segments, helping bring data-powered growth solutions to key players in the CPG ecosystem. In this role, you will:
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead Generation – Prospect and identify new business opportunities within marketing, sales, and insights teams at CPG manufacturers and service providers
- Outbound Outreach – Execute multi-channel outbound campaigns (cold calling, email, LinkedIn, social selling) to generate qualified meetings for the SPINS sales team
- Discovery & Qualification – Conduct initial discovery calls to understand prospect needs and assess fit based on SPINS’ solutions and segmentation
- Market Intelligence – Stay informed on retail trends, brand growth patterns, and emerging players in the CPG space to shape outreach strategy
- CRM Management – Maintain accurate records of prospect activity, meeting outcomes, and pipeline progression in Salesforce (or other CRM tools)
- Collaboration & Handoff – Partner with Account Executives to align on territory strategy, ideal customer profiles, and seamless lead handoffs
- Feedback Loop – Share learnings from prospect conversations with marketing, product, and GTM teams to improve messaging and solution positioning
- Industry Engagement – Attend industry tradeshows and networking events to generate interest and uncover high-potential opportunities
Education and Experience
- 1+ years of B2B sales or lead generation experience, ideally in SaaS, data/insights, or CPG-related services
- Strong communication skills—confident, clear, and comfortable building relationships across roles and seniority level
- A genuine curiosity about the business of CPG and how data fuels smarter decisions
- Highly self-motivated with a proactive, goal-oriented approach
- Familiarity with CRM tools like Salesforce and modern prospecting platforms (ZoomInfo, LinkedIn Sales Nav, Outreach.io, etc.)
- Understanding of sales performance metrics – funnel-building, conversion, channel-specific metrics and more
- Ability to conduct prospect discovery
The following is strongly preferred:
- Prior experience working with CPG sales is a plus
- Prior experience working with AI-driven tools and technology
Hiring range: $60,000 base with a $15,000 commission potential.
