Operations Supervisor

In this leadership role, the Operations Supervisor will guide a team of chemical operators to produce in-spec products, safely and efficiently. The Operations Supervisor will demonstrate consistent and best work practices to set the foundation of chemical processing, safe work, and leading industry standards execution throughout the facility. They will coordinate with respective stakeholders to continuously improve the day-to-day operation of the facility while continuing to grow their team’s skills.  

Responsibilities will include:

  • Execution of the training program to ensure compliance with all organizational and departmental policies and standards.  
  • Build effective relationships with employees through a strong presence on the operations floor or warehousing operations and ongoing engagement with front-line operators as well as maintenance, engineering, and quality personnel.  
  • Provide training and mentoring to new hires in safety, company policies, procedures, work instructions, and manufacturing execution through both hands-on and classroom-based learning. 
  • Collaborate with site leadership to develop and execute the department’s manufacturing strategy, including operations, shift planning and delegation. 
  • Lead a diverse team to foster an inclusive work environment that delivers safe, reliable, and cost-optimized production. 
  • Set clear expectations, provide feedback, and hold team members accountable for meeting performance standards. 
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure your team is prepared for plant start-up, shut down, and steady state operations. 
  • Identify potential risks to performance and lead the team in resolving issues. Escalate to relevant stakeholders when necessary to minimize impact. 
  • Communicate complex improvement ideas and information effectively, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Monitor production KPIs and make necessary production adjustments to ensure targets are met. 
  • Prioritize and delegate responsibilities across the team to effectively manage a dynamic, fast-paced environment. 
  • Listen to team members' feedback, resolve issues or conflicts, and support a positive work atmosphere. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Desire 5+ years in any of the following industries: chemical / mining / refinery facility/ Pharmaceutical / Chemical Processing / Operations and Warehousing. 
  • Experience with the following industrial equipment desired: pumps, compressors, centrifuges, reactors, mechanical separation equipment, filter presses, forklifts and kilns.  
  • Previous experience in a training or leadership role highly preferred.  
  • Demonstrated success in coaching and people development.   
  • Proficient hazard recognition skills and ability to teach and direct staff on hazard recognition.  
  • Self-motivated; able to take problems and drive them to completion using company resources.  
  • Proficient understanding of life critical procedures such as Safe Work Permitting, Hot Work, Confined Space Entry, Line Breaks/Openings, and Working from Heights.  
  • Experience with HMI programs preferred.  
  • A passion for sustainability and making the world a better place!    

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to complete a respiratory fit test and respiratory medical evaluation  
  • Ability to wear a full-faced mask when required.    
  • Ability to work with Tyvek suits, Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR), and other personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time (up to a full shift)  
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs  
  • Ability to operate and train on equipment such as forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, and other specialized machinery    
  • Ability to stand for extended periods (more than 80% of shift)    
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Varied work environments, indoors or outdoors in all seasons.   
  • Essential physical requirements, such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing.    
  • May require the ability to work weekends, nights, or on-call shifts as part of the regular work schedule.    
  • Ability to work in difficult working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, for extended periods of time.   

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
