About the Opportunity
The Nursery Department is accountable to fulfill demand of plants to accomplish with Driscoll's fruit supply, innovations and research on plants, systems, techniques amongst other, that can generate added value throughout the chain from plants to consumer Delight.
GOAL OF THE POSITION / KEY RESULTS AREA
Managing and leading RUBUS long canes and Tray Plant Nursery.
Responsible for producing and delivering plants on time, In full, with the required quality and in full alignment with Nursery financials/budget.
Responsibilities
- Guarantee the plant supply to growers, On time, In full, with the required quality, and at cost;
- Supervise operations according to crop development stage (Field preparation, planting, pruning ….).
- Manage the nursery planning, plant production forecasting & logistics.
- Supervise plant condition and health, determine required preventive and corrective measures.
- Supervise plant nutrition and irrigation, set a management guideline with the field team ensuring the right execution and follow up.
- Manage machinery and agriculture engineering areas to ensure the adequate operation of machinery and infrastructure.
- Manage nursery resources efficiently and effectively to achieve the annual Nursery operating plan.
- Administer assigned resources (purchasing, inventory, assets, personnel transportation, etc); Ensure compliance with employee safety, security protocols & applicable laws.
- Manage personnel efficiencies. Implement new process, technologies, products to improve nursery performance.
- Responsible for relationships management and liaison with local authorities.
- Provide input to develop the yearly Nursery Budget and highlight the necessary needed investment.
- Coordinate the implementation of nursery project.
Candidate Profile
Education & training
- Bachelor’s degree in Crop Science, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.
Experience
- 5-10 years of experience in plant production, nursery business.
- 5 years minimum on people management.
- Must have comprehensive experience with managing nursery planning.
- Long canes Nursery management is an asset.
- Areas of experience: People Management, Nursery Administration and Management, Relationship with growers
