Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Concord, NC or Milford, MI three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
GM Motorsports Competition Engineering is developing controls software to support our growing Sports Car Racing platforms as well as F1 and production car environments.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with multiple GM groups and partners supporting the Sports Car racing programs to design, develop, and test embedded software for vehicle functionality and performance. This role could expand into supporting F1 efforts and have collaboration with production car environments.
- Perform software integration and tests on and off car through simulation, track, and bench testing.
- Travel to domestic and international tests to support on demand software generation will be required; frequency of tests will be higher when a new racecar is under development.
- Similar functions above can be expected from time to time with the F1 and production car programs.
- Support virtual development and simulation environments including SiL, HiL and DiL.
- Maintain and augment software and sim development tool chains.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field
- 5+ years of engineering experience following the completion of a degree
- Demonstrated proficiency in software controls development related to automotive, aerospace, robotics, or similar field; samples of past work will be requested
- Ability to balance multiple projects efficiently, including prioritization and working to tight deadlines
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to navigate relationships with external partners
- Ability to efficiently document customer requirements, identify methods to integrate into existing framework, translate into functional code and validate changes
- Focus on software development process improvement for development efficiency
- Deliver high quality work products by utilizing a variety of test methodologies and environments that must include software in the loop and hardware in the loop
- Ability to present data clearly and concisely; examples will be requested
- High proficiency in problem solving, methodically finding, and solving issue root causes
- Ability to travel 10% of the time or 5 trips per year

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Motorsports experience is preferred; Collegiate programs such as Formula SAE or personal hobby engagement considered acceptable experience
- Simulink and/or embedded controller experience
- Experience with MATLAB Simulink code generation for embedded hardware
- Experience using dSpace HiL systems for control systems testing
- Vehicle dynamics simulation and control
- Driver in the loop experience
