The incumbent will manage a team of analysts responsible for the consultative development healthcare related analytics. The successful candidate will provide data driven solutions in coordination with internal and external business partners focusing on provider and network analytics providing data driven actionable insights the Network team, Value-based team, Quality and other teams while working with other data and analytics teams. The incumbent will be a healthcare data and analytics expert with passion for solving complex problems using efficient processes, analytical rigor and state of the art tools and technologies.

  • Work with the team director to own the processes and roadmap for Network and Provider analytics team.
  • Become a subject matter expert in Horizon’s data environment, especially provider and network data, and bring analytical expertise to answer business questions on regular and ad-hoc basis.
  • Supports the extraction of data from multiple sources and creates integrated analytic datasets. Develops, and creates studies to address business and research questions; interprets and refines customer requirements and effectively fulfills information needs using available tools, techniques or through the development of ad hoc tools and processes.
  • Work with multiple stakeholders to create a detailed roadmaps, project plans, and analytics plans and manage teams’ workflow
  • Train the analysts in the team to create efficient analytical processes and provide proactive analytics to the stakeholders using state of the art technologies.
  • Provides meaningful analysis of data, interpretation of results, and appropriate reporting to meet customer and audience needs. Incorporates metrics and benchmarks (both internal and external as appropriate).

Documents methods, specifications and findings clearly; contribute to writing and presentation of results, findings and conclusions. Ensures analysts document work appropriately, including use of Analytic Plan/Timeline where needed for Analytic projects.

Education/Experience:

  •  Requires BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Analytics, Information Systems, Business, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field.
  •  Masters degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or similar degree preferred.
  •  Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in Analytics, Informatics, Medical Economics or relevant work experience.
  •  Prefers 1-2 years in a senior analyst role or management experience.

Knowledge:

  • Requires understanding of managed care business processes, data, systems, and claims payment, enrollment, benefit design, product pricing, network/provider contracting, and utilization management. Health Care Provider or related consulting activities can be substituted for Managed Care experience.
  • Requires proficiency with very large data sets (i.e. claims elements, membership, authorization, etc.) and software/coding (i.e. SQL, SAS). Experience working with latest cloud based technologies a big plus (snowflake, dbt, python etc.)
  • Experience with provider / network data, value based analytics a big plus
  • Requires knowledge of typical business objectives in care, utilization, and network management functions.
  • Requires proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel including formulas, calculations and graphs)

Skills and Abilities:

  •  Requires proven quantitative and financial analysis skills;
  •  Requires the ability to express thoughts clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing;
  • Requires demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and get results;
  •  Requires attention to detail and granular levels of analysis;
  • Requires a demonstrated aptitude for analytical thinking and the ability to report findings in an accurate manner;
  • Requires outstanding organizational skills including the ability to plan, organize and prioritize work assignments;
  • Requires computer with Microsoft Office products including XL, and other database software. SAS experience a plus;
  • Requires technical skills with database concepts, data analysis development, data warehousing, and decision support tools; along with awareness of system development processes; and, Requires passion for validation of analyst work to ensure highest quality deliverables.

Salary Range:

$121,200 - $165,375

​This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity.  This range has been created in good faith based on information known to Horizon at the time of posting.  Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case.
