About Betterment

Betterment is a leading, technology-driven financial services company that offers investing and retirement solutions for retail investors and investment advisors as well as financial wellness solutions, including a 401(k) for small and medium-sized businesses. Our team is passionate about our mission: making people’s lives better. We’re headquartered in NYC and offer hybrid NY-based positions (three days/ week in-office).

About the role

The Betterment Marketing team is seeking a Coordinator to join our Regulatory Marketing team. Working closely with all facets of the Marketing department, you will own the business execution and maintenance of our promoter program and other marketing compliance programs as assigned. As a highly-regulated business, it’s critical that marketing assets and partnerships meet the standards of regulatory bodies like the SEC, as well as our internal Legal and Compliance teams' guidance.

This is a salaried, non-exempt role that is based out of our NYC office. Below we've reflected the base salary range we would offer for this position.  Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Betterment’s total compensation package for employees.

  • New York City: $65,000 - $80,000

We offer a competitive equity package, health, dental and vision benefits, life and AD&D, short-term and long-term disability insurance, EAP, commuter and parking benefits, FSA/HSA, and 401(k)with employer match as well as a generous PTO policy.  For jobs based out of our NYC HQ, we require in office attendance Tuesday through Thursday, weekly.

A day in the life

Reporting to the Regulatory Marketing Manager, this role will assume marketing compliance program responsibilities including promoter, award, and claim support across our three lines of business (i.e., Betterment for Retail Clients, Betterment Advisor Solutions, and Betterment at Work). They will do the following:

  • Onboard new promoter partners and testimonials per our approved processes, including facilitating promoter agreements
  • Partner with Sales colleagues and partnership leaders to manage the promoter recertification process, status reviews, and refer-a-friend program on an ongoing basis
  • Partner with Marketing and Compliance colleagues to launch and oversee content remediations (e.g. claim re-substantiation, promoter material deprecation, expired asset clean-ups)
  • Conduct testing routines, including confirming collection of final records of approved templates and spot-checking submissions to ensure record quality
  • Serve as the promoter point-of-contact internally, guiding team members and partners on how to maintain approved promoter standards
  • Work to develop updated best practices for marketing compliance programs based on feedback from the team

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in a marketing-related role, with a focus on business controls, operational risk, or compliance risk as a plus
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Comfortable reading and interpreting legal language
  • Experience using Google Sheets or Excel, with Confluence, Red Oak, or other record-keeping softwares as a plus
  • Ability to effectively anticipate and communicate trade-offs and priorities
  • Strong cross-functional partner
