About the role
AGL’s Health and Injury Management team have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Personal Injury Compensation specialist.
You will be leading the team in supporting AGL’s transition to a self-insured model, ensuring compliance and alignment across jurisdictions and business units, while mitigating risk across the enterprise.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading the strategy and management of AGL’s Personal Injury Insurance portfolio to deliver positive outcomes for employees while mitigating financial, legal, and reputational risk
- Overseeing the national Workers Compensation program, managing over $12 million in premium risk, and ensuring compliance with legislation and regulatory standards
- Partnering with senior leaders to provide expert advice and guidance on complex claims and injury management matters
- Representing AGL in regulatory forums and maintaining relationships with insurers, legal advisors, brokers, and government bodies
- Driving the implementation and ongoing compliance of AGL’s Self-Insurance license in NSW, including performance monitoring, audit oversight, and third-party administrator engagement
- Leading periodic updates to injury management programs and self-insurance plans to reflect regulatory changes and ensure operational excellence
- Overseeing the Salary Continuance Insurance program and contributing to AGL’s captive insurance strategy, balancing employee wellbeing with commercial outcomes
- Collaborating on health and wellbeing initiatives that align with AGL’s HSE management systems and support a safe, healthy workplace
- Analysing injury trends and risk data to inform continuous improvement and future strategy
- Managing and developing a high-performing team that partners across the business to embed best practice and compliance in all injury management processes
What you’ll bring:
- At least 10 years’ experience in a similar role preferred.
- Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant discipline e.g. Work Health and Safety Management, Risk Management, Insurance Management or Business (or substantial relevant experience in WHS, Insurance and Claims Management including Self Insurance for workers compensation).
- Skilled in occupational rehabilitation and the practical application of legal requirements.
- Highly developed leadership and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to influence and negotiate effectively at all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong internal and external networks, alliances and stakeholder relationships to achieve results.
- Skilled at analysing complex information, discerning relevance and applying sound judgment to make well-founded decisions.
- Effective planning and project management skills with the ability to work to deadlines and deliver large scale projects.
- Skilled at moving between the big picture and the detail.
- Strong coaching skill
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills to provide effective advice to Leaders and employees throughout the injury management process.
- Ability to present to range of stakeholders including ET members and senior business leaders.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills with ability to present analysis and data to senior leaders.
- Demonstrated understanding of Workers’ Compensation and Occupational Rehabilitation and the practical application of legal requirements
