About BlueLabs:

BlueLabs is a leading provider of analytics services and technology dedicated to helping our partners do the most good with their data. Our team of analysts, scientists, engineers, and strategists hail from diverse backgrounds yet share a passion for using data to solve the world’s greatest social and analytical challenges. Since our inception we’ve worked with more than 400 organizations ranging from government agencies, advocacy groups, unions, political campaigns, and international groups. In addition, we service an ever-expanding portfolio of commercial clients in the automotive, travel, CPG, entertainment, healthcare, media, and telecom industries. Along the way, we’ve developed some of the most innovative tools available in analytics, media optimization, reporting, and influencer outreach.

About the team:

The BlueLabs Civic Tech practice revolutionizes the way government agencies use data to reduce the friction between residents and the essential services they use. Our team develops deep expertise within the areas our clients care about most, then builds data programs that create impact at scale. We work closely with internal government innovation groups, and build on the analytics methodology pioneered in e-commerce, advocacy, politics, and consumer finance.

About the role:

This position will play an instrumental role in a portfolio of work that includes improving the authenticated (logged-in) experience of beneficiaries interacting with information about their healthcare coverage, constituent beneficiary identification and communication, and database maintenance and development. You will work with a team of analysts, data scientists, and engineers to drive high-impact results for millions of Americans. The Manager I, Analytics will tackle hands-on analytics and propose thoughtful new ideas on our deliverables that advance program objectives and inform client decision-making.

In this position you will:

  • Conduct and take ownership of data analysis from disparate data sources to distill human-centered operations and processes into meaningful insights, and investigate data discrepancies to identify patterns and find solutions.
  • Devise data analysis and data management strategies to create systematic methods of measuring performance across complex systems and technical implementations.
  • Critically evaluate analytical processes, tools, and deliverables, and offer informed opinions on solutions that improve the quality of the team’s work.
  • Develop KPIs and metrics that address root problems, and develop compelling visualizations to allow clients to easily understand challenges and take a clear action.
  • Check, clean, and transform incoming data for data pipelines, and help others to do the same.
  • Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, program managers, and external stakeholders to troubleshoot problems and proactively create solutions.
  • Strive to support team excellence by developing high quality documentation.
  • Take ownership of task areas and strive to independently resolve challenges, and guide more junior analysts to do the same, in order to deliver accurate products on short deadlines.

What we are seeking:

  • 5+ years of applied experience working with structured/unstructured data.
  • An undergraduate degree or higher in a quantitative field or equivalent technical training.
  • Strong understanding of how to manipulate data using SQL and Python. Experience with SQL in a Redshift environment is a plus.
  • Proficiency in one or more general or statistical programming languages, and experience with statistical analysis and techniques such as logistic regression and significance testing.
  • An interest in data investigation, solving puzzles, finding patterns in complex data, and proposing solutions that improve both client understanding and end user satisfaction.
  • Experience going from insight to impact: using the results of your analysis to tell an informative and engaging story through visualization, presentation, and writing. Experience with QuickSight is a plus.
  • Comfortable working independently to drive portions of larger projects, using organizational objectives and sound judgment to guide your work
  • Ability to extend your expertise to guide more junior analysts to take their work from 80% to done. You may have done this by: reviewing work for quality and alignment with business requirements, helping to organize raw analysis into consumable stories and recommendations, adding context, and refining ideation and solutioning in the team’s work.
  • Experience developing solutions and guiding analyses from conception through to conclusion for a client, blending data-driven decision-making with thoughtful understanding of human-centered design/processes.
  • Proficiency creating and testing data transformation processes, and automating repeatable tasks. Experience with dbt is a plus.
  • Experience working in an agile work environment and a strong grasp of version control (i.e. git).
  • Experience with direct outreach, advertising campaigns, and/or website user activity analysis is a plus.
  • Passion in applying your skills to our social mission to problem-solve and collaborate within a cross-functional, client-facing team environment.
  • The ability to successfully attain and maintain a Federal Public Trust background investigation that our government clients require; this includes a requirement that the individual has U.S. Citizenship or U.S. residency for three of the past five years (36 of the past 60 months). Resumes should specify residency information for the past 5 years of experience.
