The Human Resources Manager will establish strategic partnerships across the firm to deliver value-added services to both management and employees, aligning with the core business principles of the organization. This role encompasses responsibilities in various functional areas, including employee relations, training, performance management, policy implementation, and ensuring compliance with federal contractor and employment laws. The ideal candidate will be adept at fostering a collaborative environment and driving HR initiatives that support the firm's overall objectives.

This position reports to a Senior Manager, Human Resources and will require presence in the office from time to time pursuant to the firm’s hybrid work policy.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with managers and directors across the firm as an HR Business Partner, providing strategic advice on talent management, employee relations, compliance, workforce planning and succession planning
  • Manage complex employee relations issues; conduct thorough and objective investigations and offer recommendations for disciplinary action, performance improvement plans, and terminations
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance (e.g. coaching, counseling, etc.)
  • Manage the firm’s compliance obligations as a federal contractor through in-depth analysis and reporting
  • Manage the firm’s employee accommodations process to maintain ADA compliance
  • Work with managers and recruiting to maintain job descriptions
  • Write, update and manage human resource policies and procedures for the firm, ensuring that all policies are accurate and updated on all firm resources
  • Develop and administer programs, policies, procedures and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the firm
  • Deliver innovative solutions to meet firm needs; lead the development and implementation of a variety of human resources projects of broad scope
  • Assess the competitiveness of the firm’s compensation strategy through data-driven market research and completing and participation in industry salary surveys
  • Remain current on HR related and legal industry subject matter; recommend, evaluate and/or make changes appropriate changes to policies and procedures
  • Maintain positive working relationships with internal & external customers, and vendors
  • Provide leadership and overall development of direct reports

Qualifications and job-related skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with a Human Resources emphasis
  • 5 years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in a professional services or legal environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills both oral and written
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration
  • Strong understanding of state and federal requirements and regulations
  • Ability to work discreetly and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to identify and analyze issues and problems; recommend and implement solutions; and respond effectively to sensitive inquires and complaints
  • Practices a spirit of continuous improvement
  • Exercises flexibility and sound judgment at all times and in all situations
  • Ability to respond calmly, efficiently and effectively in stressful situations
  • Responsive, and ability to be available, including outside of regular business hours in an emergency or high priority situation
  • Ability to take ownership of special projects or make major contributions
