As a Global Project Leader, you will support Alcon’s business goals and objectives through efficient, effective, and comprehensive project management solutions for organizational initiatives. This role focuses on organizational project management, change, and communications related to programs that serve to improve the overall capability, culture, operational efficiency, organizational strategy, or performance of the Global HR organization. Additionally, you will provide executive support to senior leadership meetings and strategic programs, including facilitating critical staff meetings, refining strategic planning and finance processes, and overseeing the implementation of priority projects.

 

In this role, a typical day will include: 

  • Leads, plans, conducts, and provides organizational project management expertise to one or more projects of significant importance and difficulty where the scope, complexity, risk, and investment involved requires the broad application of intermediate knowledge through all lifecycle phases—initiation, planning, execution, and closeout. 

  • Partners to maintain, manage, and drive adoption of Activity and Calendar Management. Aids in key AMO (Ability, Motivation, Opportunity) processes; One HR Comms, Activity Management Tracker and Calendar, Global HR Exchange, etc. 

  • Provide oversight and execution on key HR projects and programs to create alignment, visibility, stakeholder awareness/engagement and ensure successful execution.  

  • Provide action tracking and monitoring for project team using project management expertise and software. 

  • Evaluate and report project team activities against project plan to identify deviations from planned timing, budget or scope. 

  • Facilitate project team meetings with agendas, minutes, and action items; ensure adequate preparation of meetings through planning activities, pre-reads, etc. 

  • Manage vendors through processing of SOWs, POs, invoices, accruals and forecasting expenses. 

  • Track and monitor project plan execution, including providing expertise in measures of success. 

  • Provides strategic foresight to anticipate challenges and opportunities. Actively engage in project discussions and decisions, offering insightful contributions to navigate potential risks and ensure deliverables align with project and broader business objectives 

  • Maintains oversight of project progress, acting as the first line of defense to safeguard quality and adherence to timelines, while continuously offering innovative solutions and recommendations to enhance outcomes. 

  • Responsible for monthly budget reviews and target planning support. Provide insights and strategic advice to ensure optimal allocation of resources and achievement of financial targets. 

  • Facilitate key staff meetings for senior leadership, ensuring the alignment and dissemination of strategic priorities. Manage the planning, execution, and follow-up of high-level meetings and offsite strategy sessions. 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+1 yr) 

  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English 

  • 5 Years of Relevant Experience 

  • 3 Years of Demonstrated Leadership 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) 

  • PROSCI Certified Change Practitioner 

  • Lean Six Sigma 

  • Experience with tools including Smartsheet, ServiceNow, Tableau, Microsoft Office Suite, and related
