This is a hybrid role. 

We’re looking for a goal-driven, strategic leader with a strong background in commercial building energy management—including energy efficiency, electrification, sustainability, and technical building system optimization. As a C&I Energy Efficiency Manager, you will spearhead the implementation and delivery of cutting-edge energy efficiency programs for commercial and industrial (C&I) customers across Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

The manager will lead a high-performing team, own a multimillion-dollar portfolio, and work across diverse industries to create meaningful change in energy efficiency and sustainability. As manager you’ll collaborate with internal and external partners to develop strategic pathways that drive innovation, improve customer experience, and optimize energy performance. In this role you will make a substantial impact:

  • Drive Change & Lead Innovation – Manage the full lifecycle of the C&I Energy Efficiency portfolio, from strategy to execution, ensuring measurable results and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead a High-Performing Team – Inspire, mentor, and develop top talent in energy efficiency, sustainability, and implementation strategies.
  • Shape the Future of Energy Efficiency – Partner with internal teams (Sales, Business Intelligence, Marketing) to design and execute game-changing market strategies that increase participation and impact.
  • Foster Industry Relationships – Build and strengthen partnerships with businesses, municipalities, energy organizations, and key stakeholders to drive program success.
  • Be the C&I Voice of Eversource – Represent the company in discussions with regulatory bodies, industry partners, and other program administrators.
  • Advance Market Transformation – Identify and deploy innovative energy efficiency technologies and solutions that help commercial and industrial customers achieve sustainability goals.

Required Experience:

  • Expertise in Building Systems & Energy Optimization – Deep technical knowledge of C&I building systems, industrial processes, and energy efficiency best practices.
  • Proven Leadership – Demonstrated success managing high-performing teams and delivering measurable outcomes in energy efficiency and sustainability.
  • Strategic Thinking & Execution – Ability to develop and implement scalable solutions that drive participation and impact while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
  • Passion for Customer-Centric Innovation – A customer-first mindset that ensures energy efficiency solutions align with evolving market needs.

Essential Functions: 

  • Oversees the effective delivery, administration, procedures, and compliance of all energy efficiency portfolio of programs offered to commercial and industrial customers.  
  • Provides engineering-based technical support for all value-added services and energy use programs to external and internal customers.  
  • Implements program efforts and supporting strategies to support energy efficiency and sustainability efforts in high-potential markets that provide customer-focused solutions, meet customer requirements and achieve energy efficiency, sustainability, and carbon reducing goals.     
  • Increases awareness and participation in high value initiatives.  
  • Manages the Implementation Program budgeting, implementation and administration processes .  
  • Represents the Company with outside stakeholders. 
  • Ensures efficient and effective coordination of energy efficiency issues between the Company and its regulatory representatives.

Qualifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill: 

  • Requires an understanding of the regulatory process and environment, including the regulatory filing process. 
  • Requires knowledge of residential and commercial/industrial building systems and industrial processes, marketing principles and market research techniques. 
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.

Education:      

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Master’s Degree preferred                   

Experience:      

  • Ten (10) plus years in managing complex projects of a technical nature       

Licenses & Certifications:  

  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification preferred

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $151,700.00 - $168,550.00 plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
