Mainframe ADABAS/NATURAL Database System Software Support
Experience and Requirements
-
Experience supporting ADABAS/NATURAL clients from a systems software perspective, including:
-
Installation and upgrades of new and existing vendor software, including at least one version upgrade of ADABAS, Natural Predict, and EntireX.
-
Application of vendor fixes, zaps, assembler source changes, and INPLs.
-
Resolution of software abends using SAG's Empower to search for abends and open/work logs with Software AG.
-

Strong communication and interpersonal skills:

Ability to engage in active listening with coworkers, management, and clients/customers.

Ability to receive and convey information courteously via telephone, electronic communication, or in person.

Capability to work on multiple concurrent projects while maintaining deadlines and milestones.

Technical Expertise
-
ADABAS System Knowledge:
-
In-depth experience with the ADABAS Nucleus and ADABAS Internals.
-
Understanding of buffer pool, format pool, buffer flushes, and ADABAS command and protection log procedures.
-
Proficiency in ADABAS Security and its integration with MVS Security Systems (ACF2, RACF, Top Secret).
-
Familiarity with ADABAS link routines for Batch/TSO, IMS, and CICS.
-
Experience with ADABAS SQL Gateway and ADABAS Native SQL.
-

Natural System Knowledge:
-
Experience with NATURAL Nucleus, Natural CICS and TSO interfaces, Natural Advanced Facilities, and Natural Security.
-
Familiarity with Natural Utilities such as SYSERR, SYSDDM, SYSRPC, SYSMAIN, SYSUNLD, SYSTRANS, SYSOBJH, TEST, SYSBPM, SYSTP, and DUMP.
-
Understanding of NATURAL System Files, their structure, and upgrade management.
-
Proficiency in administering Natural, including parameter modules, user exits, monitoring, and debugging.
-
Minimum of three years' experience as a Natural Programmer.
-

Predict Administration:
-
Strong understanding of dictionary concepts, user exits, FDIC file structure, active and passive objects, and XREF data.
-

System Administration and Debugging:
-
Knowledge of APF library authorization and its requirements for ADABAS, Natural, and EntireX.
-
Understanding of LPA and LINKLIST libraries, including appropriate module placements.
-
Experience with implementing and operating started tasks in a z/OS environment.
-
Ability to implement the ADABAS SVC, ADASIP, and ADASIR both permanently and dynamically.
-
Proficiency in MVS concepts, utilities, operations, and debugging.
-
Basic VSAM skills and understanding of JES2.
-
Ability to perform DFDSS operations.
-
Experience coding in Assembler language and other programming fundamentals.

TSO, ISPF, and JCL:
-
Proficiency in TSO and ISPF.
-
Detailed understanding and experience coding JCL for Natural Batch, EntireX, and ADABAS environments.

Software and Tools Proficiency
-
Experience using monitoring tools such as TRIM or APAS/INSIGHT to monitor ADABAS.
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
-
Experience managing changes, incidents, problem tickets, and IMACs in Service Center.
-
Ability to use Integrated Quality Management System methodologies.
Support Responsibilities
-
Provide 24/7 on-call support on a rotational basis.
-
Perform system recovery processes and explain REGEN processing benefits and limitations.
-
Assist in disaster recovery activities and planned/unplanned power interruptions.
-
Attend and contribute to technical planning and incident troubleshooting meetings.
-
Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of all activities related to system administration and troubleshooting.
Compensation at DXC is influenced by an array of factors, including but not limited to the experience, job-related knowledge, skills, competencies, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is $91,400 - $169,700.
Full-time hires are eligible to participate in the DXC benefit program.
