As SSP Operator at Husqvarna Construction in Columbia, SC, you operate tooling and equipment to hot press powdered metal diamond segments for blade and bit manufacturing. This role requires attention to detail, quality control, and adherence to safety regulations.
Shift: 1st, Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. with occasional overtime.
Key Responsibilities:
Production & Quality Control:
- Operate and maintain two SSP machines for continuous production.
- Inspect weight sequences and perform quality checks on segments.
- Assemble and disassemble SSP dies according to work orders.
- Apply boron-nitride coating and load segments into SSP/Bell Furnace.
- Maintain accurate records of tooling, quality, and order completion.
Machinery & Process Optimization:
- Set up, adjust, and troubleshoot SSP machines (e.g., sensors, piston height, gripper).
- Select programs based on BOM and ensure correct tooling alignment.
- Follow EPA, OSHA, and company safety regulations.
Competencies:
- Attention to detail and precision in measurements.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Resourcefulness, accountability, and adaptability.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 1+ year of experience as a machinist or technician in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in basic industrial math and the metric system.
- Ability to read micrometers, calipers, and perform density calculations.
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand for full shifts.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to powdered metals, dust, and sharp components.
- PPE required per OSHA standards.
