The Legal Department’s Illinois office in the Midwest region is proud to offer the Michael P. Kohler Legal Summer Externship, named after our service-oriented colleague who strongly valued mentoring and teaching, and recognized that beyond intellect, a good lawyer is pragmatic, personable, and constantly learning.
Attorneys, paralegals, and support staff in Advocate Health’s in-house legal department collaborate to handle a wide array of legal matters relating to healthcare, employment law, litigation, commercial contracts, real estate, clinical research, and corporate law, among others. As such, the Michael P. Kohler Summer Extern will gain exposure to several potential practice areas over the course of the summer (approximately mid-May to mid-August).
- Externship work will include conducting legal research and preparing memoranda; attending client meetings; participating in discussions with outside and/or opposing counsel; preparing initial drafts of documents; and other experiential learning that may arise (e.g., attending a deposition or court appearance).
